3 3 Minutes of the Development Advisory Committee meeting, held on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 4:00 p.m., in Room 530 of Abbotsford City Hall Committee Members Present: Councillor R. Siemens (Chair); D. Campbell; G. Darychuk; E. Poxleitner; H. Ratzlaff; D. Reddicopp; C. Toews; J. Vissers; and J. Zerkee. Staff Present: City Manager G. Murray; Director, Legislative Services/City Clerk B. Flitton (Part); General Manager, Planning & Development Services S. Bertelsen; General Manager, Engineering and Regional Utilities Jim Gordon; Director, Economic Development - W. Dupley; Manager of Building Permits & Licences B. Ozeroff; Director, Development Services D. Braun; Director Community Planning; Director, Development Engineering P. Blaker; Manager of Development Engineering R. Cooke; and Recording Secretary V. Karandiuk Others Present: Mayor Braun, Councillor S. Blue and Councillor B. Falk Public Present: 1 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m., 2. ADOPTION OF MINUTES None 3. DELEGATIONS None. 4. BUSINESS OUT OF MINUTES.1 None. 5. MINUTES AND CORRESPONDENCE None. 6. REPORTS None. 7. NEW BUSINESS.1 Introduction of Chair and committee members The Chair introduced himself to the Committee. He informed the Committee that Council has changed the governance model and the Development Advisory Committee (DAC) has been asked to meet to advise Council on some key initiatives. Over a course of several orientations and some strategic planning, Council has come up with strategic plans which have 4 pillars, vibrant economy, complete community, fiscal discipline and departmental alignment. 3

4 4 Minutes of the Development Advisory Committee meeting, held on Thursday, April 16, at 4:00 p.m., in Room 530 of Abbotsford City Hall Page 2 The Committee members then introduced themselves and stated why they wanted to be a part of the (DAC).2 Introduction of key staff Key City staff members introduced themselves to the Committee and gave an overview of their roles and responsibility at the City of Abbotsford..3 Council committee orientation The Director of Legislative Services/City Clerk gave a Council Advisory Committee Orientation PowerPoint presentation..4 Overview of terms of reference The General Manager of Planning & Development Services gave an overview of the DAC s Terms of Reference. Moved by G. Darychuk, seconded by C. Toews, to receive the PowerPoint presentation for item 7.4 DAC CARRIED..5 Discussion of future agenda items The General Manager of Planning & Development Services gave the Committee a copy of draft future agenda items and asked the Committee to add any additional issues and/or items they would like to see addressed at future DAC meetings. The Chair asked the Committee to the recording secretary with these items within the next week..6 Discussion of meeting dates and time The Committee discussed changing the DAC meeting date and time to the first Thursday of each month at 3:00 p.m. The General Manager Planning & Development Services will confirm this with the Committee once it s apparent this day and time will not cause any prior conflicts. 8. ADJOURNMENT Moved by J. Vissers, seconded by H. Ratzlaff, that the Development Advisory Committee meeting, be adjourned. (5:13 p.m.) CARRIED. 4
