Michael DeLong PPBA President Cheer Committee This month cards were sent to Pastor Michael and Terry DeLong congratula ng them on two new grandchildren born in a 24 hour period. A grandson in England and a granddaughter in Dayton, Ohio, Wishes for a speedy recovery to Mark Schuster Jr., son of Mark and Debbie Schuster. Mark was injured in a dirt bike accident.

2 Visions of Cullen Park By Vee Stader Summer is zipping by but the good news is that restora on work has begun at Cullen Park. It started on August 13th with tree removal, mowing and surveying. (more trees will be planted.) The plan is for work to con nue into November, weather permi ng, and to be completed by June, The grant was awarded to include Cullen and several other areas in Toledo by the EPA with matching funds from the City of Toledo. When completed it will serve as an educa onal opportunity to explain the importance of Vernal Ponds, Na ve Plants, Bu erfly Gardens, etc. as related to the environment. A pathway from Summit Street to the causeway will include footbridges. This is a $600,000. Grant that will result in a wonderful upgrade to the north side of the park. I would like to publicly thank Dave Zobler and Randy Whitmore, and Ken Socie (non PPBA members) for voluntarily removing and replacing the nau cal rope lines on the Kiosk. Ken donated the rope and Dave and Randy completed the project. It looks great. Thanks guys! In the near future there will be more work done to rehab the message board. There is a fundraiser happening to benefit Visions. Bu erfly houses are for sale at the Lighthouse Landings at 4441 N. Summit for $ They are 17 inches high made of Cedar or Pine. They could be mounted on a post and may be purchased for private use or to donate to Visions of Cullen Park for use at Cullen or Bayview Park. Thank you to Kellie and Debbie for helping us. 4 The Point Place Business Associa on sponsored the 20th Annual Scholarship and Legacy Founda ons annual Golf Ou ng was held on Friday, July 31 at Detwiler Golf Course. All proceeds from the event will directly fund both founda ons. This is the major annual fund raising opportunity for both founda ons. The winning team "Fat N Nasty" won with an impressive score of 56 Finishing 2nd with a score of 57 was the team from The Dis llery. Team Dis llery member Roger Schmidt also recorded a Hole In One on Hole #8. For his efforts, Roger was awarded 2 Airline ckets to any des na on in the Con nental United States compliments of Dixon Golf and $100 Cash prize from PPBA Scholarship Founda on. Great job Roger! 5 The newly formed Point Place Community Circus Commi ee con nued the tradi on of the Kelly Miller Circus in the Point Place area. The circus was held this year on Thursday, August 6 at Toledo Speedway. The site was chosen because it offered more parking and a be er surface and drainage in case or rain. The space was donated by Toledo Speedway. The over 2 hour show featured gers, camels, llamas, dogs, high wire acts, acrobats, jugglers, a dancing elephant and of course clowns. Young and old alike enjoyed the show. The Kelly Miller Circus donated a por on of pre show day cket sales, to PPBA Legacy Community and Scholarship Founda ons. Dona ons will also go to other area groups and events benefi ng area youth, seniors and community service groups. 6 Historical Mural in Point Place Work has begun on the historical mural. The colorful side is complete the black and white side is ge ng started and will feature a walk through the history of Point Place. The mural is located on the Lighthouse Landing building at 4441 N. Summit St. Art Corner Toledo (ACT), LLC secured the grant for the labor and private dona ons paid for the paint and materials. Thank you to Patrick McDonagh, owner of Lake Erie Studio in Point Place, who has been the main ar st on the project.

7 Save The Date!!!! Meet the Candidates Night Wednesday, October 21, 2015 At Friendship Park Community Center from 7 9 PM This is our regular PPBA Mee ng night. There will be a short dinner mee ng star 6 PM, then everyone is invited to stay and meet area candidates for Mayor, District 6 City Council Seat and other candidates in Lucas County and Toledo. Speakers will also be invited to talk on issues on the November 3, 2015 ballot.
