2 MESSAGE FROM THE MONARCH Dear Prophets, Ladies, and Friends of Abbas Grotto, Its been a great year so far and we are looking into a very busy Abbas Grotto through out the year. The bar has had a make over with new LED bar lighting and all new ceiling tiles. I want to personally say thank you to all that donated money towards the new ceiling tiles in the bar area, it looks beautiful. I also want to thank my lady Angie Bell for all her hard work on this project, Abbas has not looked this elegant in a long time. Mohawk Trail Peoria IL Phone: With all the new improvements at Abbas we are looking for new rentals in 2019, so please advertise Abbas any time you can. Here are a few ideas: use your social media accounts, let friends know, lets co-workers know, discuss Abbas at church. We are making a new Tri-Fold Brochure for Abbas and plan on making some of the wedding shows and community events to advertise our venue. With your help Abbas can grow for future generations to come. Speaking of upgrading Abbas and ongoing maintenance fees and building and ground needs. We are needing multiple large truck loads of gravel to expand and cover bare spots on our parking lot. This needs to be done but its not in our budget reach right now so I would love to see donations also for this maintenance and upgrade project. This would be very appreciated and your donation will directly affect Abbas s appearance for members and visitors for years to come. We plan on setting up for the Ceremonial on Friday March 22nd 5 pm. We will need all the help we can get at set up and for tear down after the Ceremonial so if you can help with either please come. 3 Dear Daughters, Prophets and Friends, Hard to believe it's March already. Spring is almost here, YEAH! Daughters our official visit is also right around the corner. It is scheduled for Thursday April 11. We will be having an early dinner at Avanti's in E. Peoria at 5:00 that night with our meeting starting at 7:00. Any daughter planning on coming to dinner or the meet that night please let Nancy Reed or myself know. Also don't forget to reserve your spot at the Clown's Easter party on March 30th. 4 - NOTICE - The officers of Ault Park would like to thank the individuals listed below for their generous contribution to our ceiling tile project. Also, if anyone would like to keep any of the removed tiles with names, they must be picked up at Ault s Park before May 1, If you have not had an opportunity to see our bar area come check it out. The new look will hopefully help us to get more rentals in the future. The future of our building is directly related to our ability to obtain rentals and support future fundraising activities. Please pass the word to anyone you can about our beautiful building and grounds that are available for rental. 5 Abbas News from the Secretary March Dues Notice: The Abbas Grotto 2019 dues notices have been sent out. When returning your dues check, please include the bottom of the dues notice with your phone number and address so we can update records Your address is very important since this is how the Abbas newsletter is sent out. The newsletter is also posted on the Abbas Grotto Website at Spring Ceremonial - March 23, (National Grotto Day): The Abbas Grotto Spring Ceremonial will be on Saturday, March 23 which starts at 12:00 pm, with a light lunch afterwards. Anyone interested in take a part in the ceremonial please contact us. If you know anyone that would like to become a Grotto prophet, please get their petition to us soon. New prophet information is listed below. Also if you have not been through a Ceremonial I will contact you or feel free to contact myself. New Prophet Initiation Fee: Just for information since I seem to get this question often, a new prophet s initiation fee is $ When a petition is read at the stated meeting it has to have $25.00 with it in order to be read at the meeting. The petition is then held over until the next month s Stated Meeting where it will be voted on. The remaining $65.00 must be paid before the new prophet is taken into the Grotto. Petitions are available at the Grotto or can be printed off the Abbas Grotto website at Abbas Grotto Humanitarian Efforts: In the history of the Grottoes of North America s Dentistry for Children with Special Needs program, Abbas Grotto is ranked at #2 with the number of dental cases and over 1 million dollars spent on the cases locally. Gate and Door Combination Lock Change The gate and door combination locks will be changed in March of The combination number is on the back of your dues card. Post Office Box Change: Please note the Abbas Grotto PO Box is: P.O. Box 2386, East Peoria, Il Unit Meetings The Fire Patrol, The Boys Toys and The Clowns units have decided to go back to monthly Unit Meetings on the 2 nd Sunday every month at 1:30 p.m. $75/$25 Drawing Winner: (Monthly winner of the $75.00 and $25.00 drawing at the Fish Fry).
