Club Events Stories July 23, 2012 Posted by Laurie Sandeson Rotary Club of Truro Bulletin The Start: Chairperson Heather-Anne Grant called the meeting to order and following O Canada and Rotary Grace, she introduced herself. Heather-Anne grew up on a dairy farm in Hardwoodlands. She graduated from NSAC (Agricultural Economics) and completed her Masters in the same field from U of Alberta. She was employed with AgraPoint International, CIBC and was a part-time sheep farmer for a period of time. Heather-Anne is presently an employee of NSAC and coordinates the International Food Business Program. She enjoys running, gardening and travelling. As a first year member of the Rotary Club, she is looking forward to learning more about the organization and getting involved. Attendance: 62% Fun Fines: Dave fined all those who did not get down to Halifax to take in the Tall Ships Festival. Happy Mug: Ed, Brian and Jim Gould were extra happy today. 50/50: Al Hollis had the opportunity to find the elusive joker but fell short - the kitty climbs to over $100. Committee Reports: Al Begin got the 2013 Auction off to an early start with the auctioning of a Rotary t-shirt donated by former member, Barb Allan. Jim Gould was the winning bidder. Next Week's Program: Dana Holtby - Canada World Youth; Chairperson - Sarah Campbell Secretarys' Report: Jim congratulated all those having birthdays or anniversaries during the month of July. President's Report: Laurie welcomed members back from summer vacations. She noted that there would be no meeting on August 6th (Natal Day holiday). The Board of Director's met on July 3rd and the following business items were discussed: Financial report was received from Les Mosher - the community account had a balance of $88,434 with A/R of $7293 (related to Yearbook from previous years) and A/P of $6500 (related to bursaries yet to be paid out). The Club account had a balance of $750 - revenues of $19,888 and expenses of $22,682 A budget for 2012/13 was presented by Laurie and approved by Directors Directors approved a $10 increase in membership fees bringing dues to a total of $185 for the year Yearbook pictures are being taken now and Laurie advised members that there will be a group photo of entire Club membership in mid-september Directors agreed to forgo the Fun Fines Pass Card for 2012/13 Discussions are underway with town officials regarding opportunities for the
