The cost is $ per ticket. The plan is to only sell 300 tickets so get yours in early. Tickets are available at the front desk as you come into the center. The drawing will be at the Center s Annual Christmas function on Wednesday, December 2, For each ornament donated, the carver will receive a chance at the drawing held at the November meeting for gift certificates to Drake Tools and Cascade Supply. ELECTION OF OFFICERS A nomination for officers took place at the October meeting. The nominations were seconded and the membership present at the meeting approved their induction. Since there were no others wishing to hold these offices, a formal election was not required according to the bylaws of the club. The new officers will assume responsibilitiess in January. If you have discovered a new way of doing an old technique, please share it with the members. Or, if you know someone, member or not, who does something special with wood (painting, burning, cutting, etc.) ask them if they would share their knowledge with us. 4 NEWSLETTER AND The newsletter is currently costing the club about $140 a month to mail. To help save our club money, Michelle is offering an alternative to mailings, . At the October meeting, the response was overwhelming favorable. Please be assured those who wish to receive their copy through the mail will still be able to do so. Another advantage to receiving the newsletter via is that if a colored drawing or photo is included, you will receive it in color and online links will be active. If you wish to receive the newsletter by postal service do nothing! You do not have to let Michelle know. Only those who me will receive a copy by In order to receive an version, you will need Acrobat Reader. Most computers have this program already. If yours does not, you can download a free version for your Mac or PC at Be sure to scroll down and uncheck the box that says Free McAfee Security Scan (optional) if you do not want the scan. 6 CLASSES / OPEN CARVING The Salem s Center 50+ has a Woodcarving session EVERY Friday, 1 to 4 PM up stairs in the New Salem Senior Center. If you have the time, come on down and carve or bring your wood burning equipment and join fellow pyrographers. The Silverchips meet in Silverton on Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 4 PM at the Silverton Art Association. The cost is $2.00 per session. It s an excellent opportunity to carve and chat. The dinner will be at 5:00 PM upstairs in the craft room. The dinner is free!!!! We will have a raffle Sunday afternoon during the show and an auction on Saturday night during the dinner. It would be appreciated if you would contribute an item or items. The Café 50+ will be open during the show for lunch both days. 8
