Pictured above are Nelson Alverado, (our current exchange student), Lu-Wei Spinks, (last years outbound exchange student), Heidi Shuter, (this years outbound exchange student) and Anna Ross, James Ross's daughter and long time friend of Heidi. President Phil called Nelson up to the rostrum to give members an update on Nelson's Christmas and New Year. Nelson informed members that for the first time in his life he had gone fishing and had caught some salmon. He also enjoyed water-skiing. President Phil informed members that Nelson was reluctant to go to the Wagga New Year's Eve fireworks because he wanted to watch the Sydney fireworks on the tele. As it turned out, a spot on a yacht in Sydney Harbour was found for Nelson and Darren Wallace organised a flight to Sydney so he could watch the fireworks in Sydney on New Year's Eve. Phil told members about a Wagga High Awards Evening that he attended and he said that what really blew him away was the acknowledgement that Wagga High gave to Rotary and specifically to Kevin Roben and the Food and Wine Committee. Phil also commented about an that he received from Ashley Stokes, who was one of our Noel Barnes Scholarship recipients. She made it clear that she was very grateful for the scholarship and the help that it will mean toward her goal of becoming a scientist. Phil reminded members the upcoming Rotary International World Convention in Sydney is looking for volunteers. To learn more about this, go to the RI volunteer Website. July 28 Sunday Markets

6 Page 6 of 8 OIC: Mark Sayer Team: Paul Murray, James Hamilton, Darren Wallace, Nelson Alverado, Frank Fuller, Evan Robertson Comments: Mark reported that we were a skeleton crew and allocated parts of the skeleton to each of the team members. Mark, being the OIC, was the skull, James Hamilton was the cervical spine in the neck, pointing Mark in the right direction. Evan Robertson was the humerus, because Evan was telling one-liners all morning. Paul Murray and Darren Wallace did all the leg work with the signs and they were the femur and the tibula of our skeleton. Nelson turned up and was a very solid worker, so he was the pelvis. Frank Fuller was filling in for his son. He was allocated the sacrum, which is the closest thing to an "ass-hole"! Beautiful weather, small crowd, small number of stall holders. The Food Van closed up an hour early. Recommendation from the stall holders is that we have a two week break over the Christmas holiday.
