It s Our Foundation The Advantage Provided to Rotary Members Through The Rotary Foundation:- This kind of a story is repeated many, many times; A Rotarian traveling in a third world country visits a Village Health Centre, which the member discovers has very primitive or lacks basic technological support equipment. He or she returns home, shares the information with the club, initiates a proposal, submits a Global Grant application that includes $ s for the necessary equipment as well as the supplementary $ s to support a Training team to upgrade the staff with the skills necessary to operate the new equipment. 2 Sunrise Rotarians At Work President Mike has convened a Fundraising initiative and a Committee will meet November 18th to review existing Fundraising events and explore possible new ideas for fundraising, November 10th Meeting Celebrations Guests Good morning Deanna!! Ø Linda Zuehike celebrates her birthday on Friday Ø Stuart s Birthday is next Monday, Nov 16th Happy Birthday Linda and Stuart! Age is a case of mind over matter. If you don t mind, it don t matter. 3 Rotary Moment David used a Power Point presentation to describing the ways and means of contributing to The Rotary Foundation (TRF). Well done David, a very thorough Rotary Moment Announcements Ø President Mike invited members to attend a Fundraising Meeting, Rotary House, Wednesday Nov 18, 7 pm Ø Mike also circulated an encouraging Club attendance at a Qualicum Beach Village Planning Meeting discussing a Waterfront Master Plan. That s at the Civic Centre on Dec 1st at 7 pm Ø PP Doug invited anyone interested in club leadership opportunities to step forward in time for our AGM in December. Many clubs re-cycle their Past Presidents, we have never done that so step up and get your photo on the wall. Ø Arlene circulated a sign up sheet for our Radical Readers program that will be starting next week at Qualicum Elementary. There are lots of slots to fill and if this is new to you give it a try, it s great fun to work with these young people. Ø Don had six pouches of coffee for distribution this morning. The coffee is from Ignacio Palomers, President of the El Tuito RC. The coffee is a potential fundraiser for Ignacio s club. I am sipping a cup of Ignacio s freshly brewed coffee as I write this and it s good stuff. My pitching philosophy is simple keep the ball away from the bat. Satchel Paige

4 Membership Director Allan and President Mike formally welcomed Deanna as our newest Sunrise club member. Deanna is transferring from the Kitchener Grand Rapids Rotary Club. Welcome Deanna! Fisherman Ron Ron tried his new Fly Rod out on the Oyster River and landed this Coho. Wow, by the size of that beauty it could be a Northern Coho. Congratulations Ron. Program Treasurer Bill gave us a state of the Society and state of the Club financial status update this morning. Ø 2015 Society revenue was $13,744; Expenses were $14,884 Ø Club Administration revenue was $$5,588; Expense were $5370 Ø Charitable Funds available $25,864 plus unspent residue from Ø The state of the Society finances remains an issue the Board needs to investigate Ø Club Admin deficit not serious; Bill saw no need for an increase in fees this year but will need to be visited for next year. Ø Charitable revenue in 2015=16 will be impacted by the cancellation of the Christmas Home Tour. Roses revenue was up substantially over last year.

5 The Rotary Foundation The Annual Fund SHARE &DDF The Annual Fund is the primary source of funding for Foundation grants and activities worldwide. What is SHARE and DDF? SHARE is the 50/50 division of your contribution in which 50% goes to the World Fund and 50% is returned to your District for funding District initiatives. DDF is short for District Designated Funds. How is SHARE Administered? All of the contributions you make to the Annual Fund SHARE in are invested for 3 years and the interest from the investments pay a good part of the administrative costs of The Rotary Foundation during that period. After the three years, in , 50% of your contribution will go to our District and 50% will go to the World Fund. How do I contribute to the Rotary Foundation? 1. You can buy our blue Sunrise Dollars from John or you can write a cheque or give cash to our Club Foundation Chair Ken Neden. Ken remits those funds to the Foundation on your behalf Quarterly. A tax receipt will be issued to you on receipt of the funds by TRF 2. You can go on line at Rotary dot org and use your Credit Card. You will receive your tax receipt within a week or two of your contribution. When you go online to contribute to the Annual Fund you are asked to choose from one of seven options, these are: o Annual Fund - SHARE o Annual Fund - World Fund o Annual Fund Peace and conflict prevention/resolution o Annual Fund Disease prevention and treatment o Annual Fund Water and Sanitation o Annual Fund Maternal and child health o Annual Fund Basic education and literacy o Annual Fund Economic and community development Only gifts to Annual Fund-SHARE will generate District Designated Funds (DDF). In all of the other selections 100% of your contribution will go to the Annual Fund option you select.
