2 - Page 2, Council Meeting Minutes, November 20, AGENDA ITEM #2(a) - MAYOR'S REPORTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REMARKS Mayor Luciani reported on the following community activities and events: Thorold Golden Eagles Senior A Football team was congratulated on its recent Senior A Championship. The Thorold Santa Claus Parade will be held November 24, Parade volunteers were thanked for their efforts in the organization of the event. The services of Child Advocacy Centre Niagara were highlighted. Niagara Health Systems will officially receive keys to the new hospital on November 27, A Public Information Centre will be held at the Nick Basciano Centre on November 29, 2012 regarding the replacement of Pine Street bridge. Federation of Canadian Municipalities is holding a Great Canadian Infrastructure Challenge to show the importance of municipal infrastructure in our everyday lives. The City of Thorold Christmas Card contest winner is James Kerr. Mr. Kerr submitted a pen and ink drawing of the Decew House, circa AGENDA ITEM #2(b) PRESENTATIONS 1. Mayor Luciani presented Olympic Silver Medalists Natalie Mastracci, Tonya Verbeek and Wresting Coach Martin Calder with Certificate of Accomplishments in recognition of their athletic accomplishments and in appreciation of representing the City of Thorold at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Councillor Murphy requested information regarding the number of watermain breaks that occurred on November 8, The Director of Operations stated that a number of factors could have contributed to the breaks and that he has had discussions with the Region of Niagara regarding future protocols, should a similar situation occur in the future. 2.
