Rod Medew visited Bundaberg City Daybreak to talk about our annual White Ribbon Breakfast this week. A timely visit, as this year s Australian of the Year Rosie Batty is a passionate campaigner to stop Family Violence after her son Luke was killed by his father last February. Ross organised a Bottler Aussie Trivia quiz at our meeting, and Lionel got the booby prize of an LP of Australian Country Yodelling! Triumphant true blue Aussie Ian won the quiz and received a jar of Vegemite, some bananas and a can of Aeroguard. January 29, 2015 January is Rotary Awareness Month Vol 51, No 30
4 Australia Day BBQ at Botanic Gardens Great support from club members for the Australia Day BBQ 14 club members, 5 family members, a former club member and Sandy Farmer and family from Aussie Home Loans all turned up to help. We made close to $2000 so an excellent fundraising effort for the club. Club members and family also turned up on Sunday morning at the Bundaberg Library to move almost 300 boxes to storage for our next book sale. Once Ian s truck was full the boxes went everywhere they could Dave showed how easy it is when you can stack on pallets and use our forklift. Sesame Workshop introduced Raya last year with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to teach the TV show s millions of young viewers in Bangladesh, India, and Nigeria about sanitation and hygiene.
