1 News and Events March/April 2018 An Evening with J.A. Jance Thursday, April 26 Sponsored by The Friends of the Bay County Libraries in honor of Robert Cierzniewski New York Times bestselling author J.A. Jance will appear at the State Theatre in Bay City on Thursday, April 26 at 7:00 pm for an engaging talk followed by a book signing. Attendees may either bring their own book or purchase her latest title at the event. There is no charge to attend. Seating is first come, first served. Jance has authored more than fifty mysteries in four different series featuring J.P. Beaumont, Joanna Brady, Ali Reynolds, and the Walker family. She is also the author of a moving volume of poetry, After the Fire. Her most recent book is A Last Goodbye, an Ali Reynolds Novella. Born in South Dakota and raised in Arizona, Jance and her husband split their time between Tucson, Arizona and Bellevue, Washington. Award-winning L.A.-based poet to perform at Wirt Douglas Kearney is the winner of the 2017 Roethke Memorial Prize for Poetry, an award given every three years to an outstanding American poet. In addition to his poetry, Kearney is a performance artist, librettist, and currently teaches at California Institute of the Arts. BCLS is excited to announce that Douglas Kearney will appear at Wirt Library on Tuesday, March 27 at 1:30 pm to read selections from his current poetry collection, Buck Studies. The performance is free. No registration is required. Kearney s visit to Bay City is part of the Roethke Poetry and Arts Festival, a five day event celebrating poetry and the arts in the Great Lakes Bay region.
