MC PUBLIC COMMENT No public comment STANDING REPORTS A. Athletic Report Ms. Bender: Softball is going into the regional tournament ranked #3. We will play Monday May 23 at 4:00pm in Turtle Lake. It s a two day tournament and the top four teams advance to state in Fargo June Track regionals are Saturday May 21 at the Bowl in Bismarck with the state track meet the following Friday and Saturday. Baseball regional tournament will begin on Monday May 23 at Shiloh. WWCS goes in to the tournament as the #5 seed and plays Hazen #4 seed at 12:00pm. Top team moves on to the state tournament in Fargo June We will be ordering new boys basketball uniforms. Quote was given to Ms Kady for approval. We get a $ kickback from this order to purchase other needs. From the Girls Basketball kickback we ordered new purple Volleyball jerseys. They were free, however, we paid for the numbers and Miners on the jerseys. Also free were GBB practice jerseys. Archery had two archers compete in the National Archery shoot. Although neither placed, they learned valuable lessons in discipline, stress levels, and enjoying themselves. Interested athletes met with Michael Salwei of Sanford POWER regarding a summer strength program. We will have a set time for Wilton Wing athletes to get trained. We are assessing their travel needs and looking to take a small bus to transport them if they need is there. B. Technology Report Mr. Thompson is attending a certification training. C. Elementary Report Mrs. Meier: She attended AdvancEd review in Minot. Pastries for Parents was restructured this last time and seemed to go better, we continue to get feedback to make it even a bigger success. Play Day was May 13 th we had it inside all day due to the weather. Picnic lunch Tuesday 20+ parents attended. Kindergarten graduation Tuesday was awesome. Committee AdvancEd met Wednesday May 18 th to work on the board presentation for August s meeting. Some staff will be attending the MTSS Conference in Fargo in June. The rest of the elementary staff will be attending Daily 5 Conference in July. We have 20 elementary students signed up for summer school. D. Secondary Report Mr. Jordan: Finished up Semester Tests yesterday. ITV classes run through Friday this week and classes at the Career Academy run through June 2 nd. Report cards will go out sometime next week except for the students going to the Career Academy. Paige Hausauer and Tucker Johnson attended the Best of the Class on May 11 th in Bismarck. Wilton band participated in the Band Day Parade last Friday. June 2 nd is the end of the year Power-School and roll over to the next year training. Next year classes are set and can be entered after the roll over. Graduation is this Sunday May 22 nd at 2pm. June 2 nd is Mr. Jordan s last day. E. Superintendent Report Ms. Kady: Ms. Kady attended MREC sectional meeting. She gave an update on Souris Valley, they found a new location. Monday May 23 rd she will be attending the Superintendent meeting. Wilton will be doing a summer library program
4 on Wednesday afternoons from 12:30 4pm starting June 15 July 27. Ms. Kady displayed the awesome gifts that the board purchased for all the staff. SPECIAL COMMITTEES Co-op Meeting Wilton, Wing, Washburn. This is later on the agenda. OLD BUSINESS School Calendar. PT conferences for the spring are on the calendar on Feb. 27 and March 1. Feb. 27 is the boys basketball district championship night. I recommend the Feb. 27 conference date be changed to Tuesday Feb. 28. Leapaldt-Johnson/Harris moved to revise the school calendar, changing the spring conference date of Feb. 27 to Feb. 28. Mr. LaCombe gave an update on the Robotics Club and how well it went this year. B. Football Co-op On Monday night, the Washburn School Board approved an emergency co-op agreement to bring Wing back into the football co-op. In order for the NDHSAA to consider this, an additional 2 year agreement must also be approved. A meeting was held with representatives from Washburn, Wilton, and Wing present to discuss the pros and cons of this option. Vicky and I will share more on this at the meeting. We recommend approval of both agreements. Leapaldt-Johnson/Harris moved to approve an emergency football co-op agreement for the school year. This agreement has been a valuable resource and support for Wilton athletes and coaches, in the areas of athletic training, and in helping to prevent and treat injuries that may occur. This is a two year agreement with a fee of $3,300 per year. Schurhamer/Leapaldt-Johnson moved to approve the 2 year sports medicine agreement, starting on August 1, 2016 with Sanford, in the amount of $3,300 per year. Technology Literacy Resources Mr. Thompson and Mrs. Meier have researched and selected a technology literacy program that integrates technology and 21 st century skills into math, science, language arts, and social studies. Mr. Thompson will be teaching a technology literacy class next year. This resource will be used for this course. Leapaldt- Johnson/Harris moved to approve the purchase of the Learning.com Easy Tech program for all K-12 students enrolled in Wilton. 5 F Staffing Interviews were conducted this week for the Social Studies instructor. Mr. Jordan, Mrs. Meier, Mrs. Seiler and Ms. Kady interviewed 6 candidates. They recommend Mr. Christian Helgeson for this position. Mr. Helgeson has been employed for 6 years with Bismarck Public Schools, at the Adult Learning Center. The committee agrees Mr. Helgeson matches the needs identified for the Wilton students and school. We recommend approval of a teaching contract for Mr. Helgeson, to include coaching duties. Schafer/Leapaldt-Johnson moved to approve a teaching contract, for Mr. Christian Helgeson for the school year. Preschool Resources Mrs. Meier presented information on pre-school teaching resources called DIG Develop, Learn, and Grow. After School Program The after school program is a huge success, with numbers of students at or above 25 attending each day. Miss Busch, Mrs. Meier, and Ms. Kady reviewed the current after school program policies and practices and recommend the some adjustments for the current year. Leapaldt-Johnson/Harris moved to approve Miss Busch a stipend of $ to oversee registration, attendance, and records for the after school program.
