1 Turtle Lake-Mercer School Board Regular Meeting February 16, :00 p.m. Conference Room 1) Pres. Laib called the regular meeting of the Turtle Lake-Mercer School Board to order at 7:00 P.M. in the Conference Room on Monday, February 16, Directors present were Sondrol, Britton, Wagner, Freeman, Presser, Maxwell Via Conference Call. Superintendent: Dick Schaffan, Principal: Daren Kurle Business Manager: Susan Davis. Guests: Jessica Anderson and Allan Tinker Presser moved to approve the agenda as presented, Brittan seconded the motion. Motion Carried. 2) Sondrol moved to approve the minutes of the January 21, 2015 regular meeting and the special meeting dated January 24, 2015 as mailed out, Presser seconded the motion. Motion Carried. 3) Financial Reports a) Freeman moved to approve the financial reports and payment of the bills as presented, Wagner seconded the motion. Motion Carried. 4) Old Business: a) Central McLean Cougar Co-op meeting that was held on January 28 th was discussed. Reviewed the Sports Cooperative Agreement changes that were presented. Laib moved to approve the Sports Cooperative Agreement as presented, Presser seconded the motion. Motion Carried. Discussed adding speech and drama programs to the coop. Britton moved to approve adding speech and drama programs to the Central Mclean Cougar Co-op, Wagner seconded the motion. Motion Carried. Discussed academic eligibility requirements for the Turtle Lake-Mercer School. Next co-op meeting scheduled March 11, 2015 in Turtle Lake. b) Policy Review-Tabled until next regular board meeting. Meeting will start at 6:00 P.M to enable time to review policy. c) Election will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 to vote on the question of whether or not to approve a change in reorganization plan with one of the following options: Option 1: The district shall be a public school district with a school board consisting of (7) members elected by the voters at large. Option 2: The district shall be a public school district with a school board consisting of (5) members elected by the voters at large. Option 3: No change to the reorganization plan. Polls will be open at 7:00 AM and shall remain open until 7:00 PM. Polls will be located in the Turtle Lake Legion Hall and the Mercer City Hall. FEBRUARY 16, 2015 REGULAR MEETING MINUTES Page 1

2 d) Teresa Presser, Julie Wagner and Lana Sondrol gave a report on the Negotiation Seminar they attended in Bismarck. Discussion on the negotiation process and the roll of the Superintendent and Business Manager in this process. e) Reviewed the updated School Calendar options. f) Board picture for website and annual was tabled. 5) New Business: a) Superintendent Formal Evaluation is due by March 15, Board members are to complete the evaluation form and give to Board President Laib by March 9 to compile the information. b) Freeman moved to approve the summer of 2015 Drivers Education Program with Mrs. Diane Cullum as the instruction for a salary of $38.27 per hour for classroom instruction and $25.00 per hour for behind the wheel training, Britton seconded the motion. Motion Carried. c) Presser moved to approve a Family Open Enrollment Application for the Jordan and Tasha Miller Family from the McClusky School District to attend Turtle Lake-Mercer School District, Laib seconded the motion. Motion Carried. Transportation of open enrolled students was discussed. d) Britton moved to amend Kody Keysor s Teaching Contract to a 94 day contract, Sondrol seconded the motion. Motion Carried. e) Use of Facilities Request aa. Freeman moved to approve a use of facilities request from Hospital Auxiliary for May 3, 2015 for a Salad Luncheon, Wagner seconded the motion. Motion Carried. bb. Presser moved to approve a request from the Lukester s Great America Bike Race Team /8 th and 9 th Grade classes for March 8, 2015 to hold a breakfast and carnival, Sondrol seconded the motion. Motion Carried. 6) Reports a) Athletic Director s Report aa. Reviewed the openings for coaches for the spring athletic teams. b) Principal aa. FFA judging season has started. 1. Ben and Trapper have both qualified for State Competition cc. Back Pack Program Jessica Anderson gave a presentation on the Back Pack Program and how it works.
