Budget and Proposed Mill Level Public Hearing: The Budget and Proposed Mill Level Public Hearing meeting was called to order on September 14, 2016 at 6:04pm Superintendent Kady presented the Proposed Mill Levy and Budget for School Year. Meeting was adjourned at 6:15pm. Regular Board Meeting: The Regular Board Meeting was called to order at 6:30pm with the Pledge of Allegiance. Approval of Agenda: Schurhamer/Harris moved to approve the agenda. All in favor. Motion Carried. Approval of Minutes: Riehl/Schurhamer moved to approve the minutes from August 17, 2016 Board Meeting. Standing Reports: Athletic Report All sports are under way. Volleyball (19 Wilton), Junior High Volleyball (7 Wilton), Football (8 Wilton), Junior High Football (6 Wilton), Elementary Girls Basketball (7 Wilton), X-Country (5 Wilton). Robotics is still in need of a coach. Homecoming football is September 30, activities will be further discussed through Student Council. We will be hosting a flag football game for grades 4-6 Wilton, Wing, and Washburn. Mini cheerleaders will also be cheerleading and performing. T-shirts will be given to participants (donated by Wilton Wing boosters). Technology Report - NWEA testing last few weeks. Proposal for Chrome Books are on the agenda later in the meeting. Principal Report Updates: PE and Music/Band standards are in PowerSchool and being utilized in addition to ELA and Math. Summer School went very well. 16 students in 1st- 6th grade attended. 1st annual Boo Hoo breakfast occurred on the first day school sponsored by PTO. We did received feedback that there needs to be clarification for

3 coming years and a thought of possibly opening it up to Senior parents to come and share their experiences. We have received feedback that 7th grade orientation needs to be occurring in the Spring to better prepare our new Junior High students. MTSS spent 2 days in Minot (Sept ) getting further training in Tier 2/3 instruction. NWEA Fall testing is underway. The window closes the 16th. We are implementing Data digs/planning days school-wide to ensure we are meeting the needs of students and utilizing the information we have to plan instruction. We will be bringing out a data specialist to review in November. We will have mental health training on Oct. 19th for all staff Future News: AdvancEd will be going to the Learning Forward Fall conference on Oct. 5-6 to continue work on the action plan and create our Journey 2020 goals. We are sending a team of 5 to the North Dakota Fall Educator s Conference Oct Homecoming week is September 26 th 30 th event flyer was attached. Superintendent Report Measure 2 will be on the ballot. Ms. Kady shared a Foundation Aid Stabilization Fund Fact Sheet and Message Map to give Board Members the facts. Wilton Public School enrollment is down 2 students from last year. Special Committees: Crisis Committee Mr. Stamstad will provide a review of the District Crisis Plan. This plan is reviewed annually. Mr. Stamstad is the chairperson of the staff Crisis Plan Committee. New this year is an Emergency Backpack in each classroom and office. This committee continues to work on an Emergency Flip Chart. Finance Committee The Finance Committee met August 31 st and is prepared to make a recommendation to the Board. This is item B under New Business. Board Committee Meeting Schedule Included in your packet is a draft schedule for the Board Committee meetings for the current school year. Please review this calendar and contact Jenna as soon as possible if you have conflicts with any of the tentative dates. Old Business: A. Playground Basketball Court Update The fencing has been extended on the east side of this area. The poles and hoops are expected to arrive next week. B. Drainage Project Schurhamer/Harris moved to approve Schafer Construction to complete drainage project on the north side of the building, including the area on the south side the garage area, at a cost of $14,500 and $1,500 to caulk the seams of the initial project. Roughrider Team Health Action Plan 2016 This past summer, several staff members attended the annual Roughrider Health Conference in Medora. One of the activities included drafting an action plan for wellness activities. D. Consent Agenda Some additional information regarding consent agenda. A draft policy will be presented at the next curriculum/policy committee meeting for their review and input.

4 New Business: A. Personnel Update Schurhamer/Riehl moved to accept the resignation of Roberta Voigt, effective September 23, 2016, with appreciation for the service to the Wilton School. B Budget Schurhamer/Riehl moved to approve the FY 2017 Wilton Public School District #1 Budget, to include revenue from levies of a total of mills, including General Fund, 6 Miscellaneous, 3 Special Reserve, and 6 Building Fund. Roll call vote: Riehl yes, Schurhamer yes, Schafer yes, Harris yes. Motion Carried. C. Board Policy Review ABBD Commercial and Political Use of Schools - Schurhamer/Riehl moved to reaffirm the policy entitled Commercial and Political Use of Schools coded ABBD. This policy was previously adopted by Wilton School Board. The Board has made no changes to the policy s content. Roll call vote: Riehl yes, Schurhamer yes, Schafer yes, Harris yes. Motion Carried. ABCB Sportsmanship Schurhamer/Riehl moved to reaffirm the policy entitled Commercial and Political Use of Schools coded ABBD. This policy was previously adopted by Wilton School Board. Title VI Grant Application Title VI Grant Application was submitted on September 2. E. Superintendent Evaluation Date Superintendent Evaluation: Schurhamer/Harris moved to schedule the Superintendent evaluation at the October 2016 Regular School Board meeting. Motion Carried G. Souris Valley Special Services MOA. This annual plan is developed in accordance with North Dakota Administrative Rule It is in effect for five years ( ). Changes may be made by the district if needed. H. NDSBA Annual Conference - Bismarck October 27 and 28. This annual conference is a great professional development opportunity for school board members. Please consider attending if your schedule allows.
