1 I MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF MANAGERS OF THE EAST HAMPTON LIBRARY HELD FRIDAY, JANUARY 21,2000, AT 4:00 P.M. AT THE LIBRARY The presdent, Tom Twomey, called the meetng to order at 4:00 p.m. present: Abel, Chapman, Conner, Epsten, Gray, Greene, Huntng, N. Mercer, P. Mercer, Randolph, Ratsep, Scheerer, Snyder and Twomey. Absent: Brock, Cameron, Dayton, Furlaud, McGurk, Murray and Ross. Announcements: 1. There wll be no meetng n February. 2. The Book Fund now has $25,000 from fve gfts. 3. The Pennypacker socety, composed of people who are plannng to nclude the lbrary n ther wlls, wll be recevng a malng n about two weeks. These people wll be nvted to attend functons at the lbrary. We wll depend on an honor system for ths group. 4. "East Hampton Lbrary hghlghts of 1999", a bref annual report was handed out to the board members and wll be attached to the December mnutes. The mnutes were approved as amended. I Drector's report: 25 cards a day are beng ssued to new users from Sprngs and Wanscott on Saturdays. A moton was passed to approve the purchase of two computers, one prnter and software for the Sprngs Lbrary at a cost of $ One computer wll be gven to the Sprngs Lbrary and the other wll be used by the new assstant bookkeeper. A moton was passed to approve the Msson statement of our lbrary: "The purpose of the East Hampton Lbrary s to meet the nformaton and readng needs of ts users and to mantan the Long Island Collecton for hstorcal research." A moton was passed to approve the pet polcy of the lbrary to not allow pets n the lbrary because of health concerns. The treasurer's report was approved. ", {.'f Cultural events: The Mllenum Party was very successful and well attended. There was a treasurer hunt, a magcan and a story readng to keep everyone entertaned. I Book Sale: The half prce sale n January netted $700 and another one wll be held on Saturday, February 19 th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

2 The second volume of the East Hampton Hstorcal Collecton sfnshed,and 1500 of the books are n the warehouse, worm $60,000. The thrd volume s on the way. Lbrary Socety: $7, has been receved snce January 1 from 36 donors. There s a total of 755 members now. Malngs wll be sent out soon. 500 book plates, done by Shela Rogers on the computer, wll be put n books. These wll have the names of the Socety Members who gave an extra $50 n response to the last appeal. Arlene West wll be holdng a computer workshop for busnesses, whch wll cost $100 to jon. Pat Mercer reported that correctons have been made to the sample major Donor Plaque and a moton was passed to authorze the spendng of up to $5,000 for thefnalplaque. Three mllon dollars were donated to the lbraryfromthese patrons whose names are on that plaque. A moton was passed to adjourn the meetng. The meetng was adjourned at 5:30 p.m. Barbara H. AT THE LIBRARY The presdent, Tom Twomey, called the meetng to order at 4:00 p.m. Present: Abel, Cameron, Chapman, Dayton, Epsten, Gray, Huntng, McGurk, Randolph, Scheerer and Twomey. Absent: Brock, Conner, Furlaud, Greene, N. Mercer, P. Mercer, Murray, Ratsep, Ross, and Snyder. Dana Dayton was also present. Announcements: 1. Edward Gorman, a new member of the Cultural Events Commttee, wll lead a book sgnng event on Saturday, Aprl 8 th, at 6:30 p.m. by Ken Robbns, a noted photographer and artst, who has just come out wth hs new book, "Hampton Sute", a collecton of photographs of the East End. 2. We have a lst of donors to the Pennypacker Socety, as a result of a recent malng to selected people. 3. Beth Gray, our Drector, was presented wth a very specal pen and also her own personal sgn for her parkng place, n acknowledgement of her 25 years as drector of our lbrary. I The mnutes were accepted as corrected. The treasurer's report was approved. Beth Gray announced that there wll be a Dsablty Awareness Workshop on Tuesday, Aprl 11 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and that the lbrary wll be closed durng those hours. Board members are urged to attend. New York State now recognzes our lbrary as an electronc lbrary. A moton was passed to approve the SCLS 90.3 Complance Plan, whch descrbes how lbrary servces are provded to resdents n a varety of crcumstances. There have been small jumps n crculaton due to new Sprngs and Wanscott users. There have been falures n the Follett Lbrary System Software, whch has delayed the processng of lbrary cards. Betty Bushong, the new member of the staff wll be traned by Henrka Conner to do the bookkeepng. I Long Island Room: Dana Dayton reported that John and Chp Ray have been workng n the Long Island Room on mages and photographs of Long Island. A soft cover book wll come out n May wth half the proceeds gong to the Long Island Collecton.

4 The Acquston Commttee has met two tmes, but so far has had only two responses for requests for old letters and documents. Dana and John Walton went to Albany on a trp sponsored by SCLS to rally for state fundng support n a bll, Lbrary 2000, whch would allow lbrares to share electroncally and to apply for dgtzaton grants. John McGurk suggested that our valuable document books be reapprased. The Long Island Commttee wll recommend ths at the next meetng. A moton was passed to adjourn the regular meetng and open the East Hampton Lbrary Book Shop, Inc. Drectors meetng. A moton was passed to open a checkng account for the Book Shop, Inc.wth the Brdgehampton Natonal bank and to authorze Tom Twomey and Henrka Conner as sgnatores of the exstng account as of March 1,2000. A moton was passed to transfer the nventory of resale temsfromthe 350 th Celebraton to ths account. A moton was passed to close the Book Shop meetng and open the regular board meetng. Book Sale: The book sale netted $850 and there wll be one more half-prce sale on Aprl 1. Susan Charnok, a volunteer has been helpng mark books and shelve them. Appeal: Stuart Epsten wll help wth an appeal to local merchants and busnessmen. Lbrary brochures wll be placed n ther stores and offces. 6 I MAY19,2000 MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF MANAGERS OF THE EAST HAMPTON LIBRARY HELD AT 4:00 P.M. AT THE LIBRARY The presdent, Tom Twomey, called the meetng to order at 4:00 p.m. Present: Abel, Cameron, Conner, Epsten, Furlaud, Gray, Huntng, McGurk, P. Mercer, Ratsep, Snyder and Twomey. Absent: Chapman, Dayton, Greene, N. Mercer, Murray, Randolph, Ross and Scheerer. The mnutes of the last meetng were accepted as corrected. An announcement was made that the budget report wll be maled n advance of meetngs so the board members wll be able to study t and make nformed comments or questons. I The treasurer, Henrka Conner, made a moton to set up an Operatng Fund Account at Pane Webber. Ths fund would be the depostory for all Lbrary Recevables as well as all Dvdends and Interest generated on both our restrcted and endowment Accounts whch are managed by Baxter: the mones wll be transferred monthly. The purpose of havng one account s: 1: to make t easer for the Treasurer to obtan a fx on all lqud funds avalable to mantan operatons. 2: To optmze the return on these funds by nvestment n short term vehcles such as money market funds, CD's, US Treasury blls and /or whatever nstruments provde the best return n the short run. 3: Ths account shall be restrcted to cash equvalents at the Treasurer's and Assstant Treasurer's dscreton. Our bank account wll be mantaned as usual and wll receve funds from the Operatng Fund Account as needed for payroll and recevables. Don Huntng seconded the moton. The majorty approved t wth Eleanor Ratsep objectng. A moton was passed to accept the treasurer's report. Beth Gray reported ncreased nterest n low level readng books and a pctoral dctonary. Joyce and George Greenberger made a $1,000 gft to ncrease our DVD collecton. Beth requested a second exteror book return bn due to the overwhelmng returns on Sunday snce ncorporatng Sprngs and Wanscott resdents. A moton was passed to approve the $3,843 estmate. I A moton was passed to approve spendng $680 for a Chldrens' Room book bn to conform wth exstng bns.

7 Staff members, Martha Young and John Walden, wll be marred on June 10 th. Board members wll contrbute to a gft. The SCLS Board of Trustees would lke ts member lbrares to vote on the followng proposed amendment to the SCLS Plan of servce. Proposed: that the mnmum cost of fnancal partcpaton n the full servce program of the Suffolk cooperatve Lbrary System be ncreased by an amount not to exceed $500 annually untl such mnmum reflects the ncreased percentage cost contrbuted by all member lbrares snce the program's ncepton n Thereafter, the mnmum cost for partcpaton n the full servce program of SCLS shall be adjusted annually by the average percentage approved by all SCLS members n the annual budget vote. Ths change shall take effect as of ms year f approved by the member lbrares. Beth Gray reported our budget already ncluded $6,720 to cover the ncrease. A moton to support the amendment was made and passed. Nomnatng Commttee: Because the populaton the lbrary serves has nearly doubled by ncorporatng the communtes of Sprngs and Wanscott, the Nomnatng Commttee suggests we add representatves from those areas to our board. Doreen Nggles{Wanscott} and Howard Lebwth {Sprngs} worked to develop support for expanson of the lbrary dstrct. Eleanor Ratsep made a moton to accept the slate of managers and offcers. Don Huntng seconded the moton, whch was passed, and another moton was passed to have the secretary cast one vote for the slate. A moton was passed to thank Mary Jane Brock for her magnatve contrbuton to the lbrary's Centennal Celebraton, the Chldrens' Fars and supportng the captal campagn so generously, as she retres after sx years on our board. Lbrary Socety: Ths year's ncome ncreased $19,265 when compared to the same perod last year. January - Aprl 1999 ncome was $17,654. January - Aprl 2000 ncome was $36,919. whle expenses for the same perod only went up 6%from $8,947 to $9,527. Research resulted n names and addresses of homeowners new to the communty and Socety malngs wll be sent to them. Grounds: Kate Cameron wll help develop a polcy for dealng wth possble arboreal gfts to the lbrary. Long Island Collecton: Bruce Collns, on the Acquston Commttee, contacted Davd Mulford who wll generously donate famly documents to the Long Island Collecton. A moton was passed to authorze prntng a book contanng hstorcal wrtngs about East Hampton by varous authors from 1700 through A moton was passed to formally thank Tom Twomey for orchestratng the concept, the creaton, the prvate fundng, the prntng and resultng total profts from the sale of three hstorcal volumes called "Awakenng the Past", "Tracng the Past" and "Explorng the Past".

8 I A moton was passed for the lbrary to buy 400 copes of a book called "East Hampton" by John W. Rae, at a cost of $3,600. Research was done n the Long Island Collecton Room and credt wll be gven to the lbrary on the book cover. Bookhampton wll sell the books and proceeds wll beneft the lbrary. Book Commttee: There wll be a book sale on Saturday, May 27 th, from 10:00 a.m, to 4:00 p.m. Cultural Events: The next event wll feature Robert Dash and hs book "Notes from Madoo" on June 10 th from5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The next meetng wll be on June 16 th at 4:00 p.m. The meetng was adjourned at 5:50 p.m. Patrca Mercer, Actng Secretary

9 JUNE 16,2000 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF MANAGERS OF THE EAST HAMPTON LIBRARY HELD AT THE LIBRARY AT 4:00 P.M. The presdent, Tom Twomey, called the meetng to order at 4:00 p.m. Present: Abel, Cameron, Chapman, Conner, Dayton, Epsten, Furlaud, Gray, Greene, Huntng, Lebwth, McGrk, N. Mercer, P. Mercer, Murray, Nggles, Randolph, Ratsep, Ross, Scheerer and Twomey. Absent: Snyder. Tom Twomey welcomed the two new board members, Howard Lebwth and Doreen Nggles, to the board and the board members each ntroduced themselves. The mnutes for Aprl and May were approved. The treasurer' report was accepted. Drector's report: The phone lne has been nstalled at the Sprngs Lbrary so that ther computer can te nto ours when t s nstalled. There are two work shops comng up at SCLS for any board members who mght lke to attend. There has been a 20% ncrease n crculaton n May. There s a need for more vdeos. A moton was passed to accept the commttee assgnments. Shela Rogers gave a demonstraton of the lbrary's new webste. She also gave each board member a prnted sheet wth lbrary Emal addresses and nstructons on how to make the lbrary ther home page. Another sheet was gven out wth a password for each member. Lbrary Socety: $47,254 has been receved as f today. A newsletter wll go out next month. Long Island Room: Ann Chapman showed the members a new book called"east Hampton" whch contans about 400 old photographs and postcards of our vllage. There s a forward by Tom Twomey and acknowledgements to Dorothy Kng and Dana Dayton.We have ordered 400 of the books and Book Hampton wll sell them at ther store for $20, gvng us 100% of the proceeds. A moton was passed to allow $3200 for the purchase of old atlases, datng from 1915 to 1917, whch were brought to the lbrary by George Krzymnsk, of "Certan books" n Cutlchogue. They would be very valuable for geneology records. Isabel Furlaud reported that the Hstorcal Socety has brought over all the negatves and prntsfromthe m&wk "Mens' Lves" to store downstars. Some of the prnts have been beautfully framed. Funds wll be needed to catagorze them. The evenng wth Robert Dash was very successful.

10 I The Book sale on May 27th brought n $ Members of the board contrbuted towards a weddng present for our two staff members, John Walden, the assstant drector, and Martha Young. The presdent, Tom Twomey, called the meetng to order at 4:00 p.m. Present: Abel, Conner, Dayton, Epsten, Furlaud, Gray, Greene, Huntng, N. Mercer, P. Mercer, Nggles, Randolph, Ratsep, Ross, Scheerer, Snyder and Twomey. Tom Twomey announced that we wll be recevng a total of$20q0 00fromthe Naegle estate. The next meetng wll be on the fourth Frday n August, whch wll be August 25 th. A moton was passed to approve the mnutes of the last meetng as corrected. The treasurer's report was accepted. We have receved $200,000 from the sale of booksfromthe Book Shop. Drector's Report: $ has been gven to the lbrary n memory of Janet P. Wanwrght. $ wll be used for audo cassettes and $ for books. Long Range Plannng: A moton was passed to create a commttee to antcpate the future needs of the communty from our lbrary. The use of the computers has doubled and patrons are expectng more servces. Suggestons were made to talk wth Jerry Nchols and Robert A. M. Stem for deas on expandng our facltes. Lbrary Socety: $1,065 has been gven snce July 1 st, and $49,519 total snce January copes of the newsletter were prnted and 1200 were maled outthe newsletter was done grats by Shela Rogers. 160 welcomng letters have been sent out to new homeowners, 575 letters also went to Wanscott. The next bg malng for renewal n the Lbrary Socety wll occur n August. Doreen Nggles wll be workng wth Carolyn and s desgnng a calendar wth twelve pages whch wll be sponsored by busnesses who wll be asked to contrbute It wll be completed by November 1 st and wll be free to Lbrary Socety members. The Pennypacker and Book Fund brochures wll be maled out as remnders of ways to gve to the lbrary. Efforts are beng made to form an allance wth the Brooklyn Hstorcal Socety, whch used to be the Long Island Socety, and has many old deeds and documents about Long Island. Janet Ross knows the presdent and wll assst Tom Twomey n tryng to acqure some of these materals. Cultural Events: The gatherng on July 8 th at the lbrary for the readng of Peter Wolfs book, "Hot Towns" was well attended and thanks were gven to John McGurk for

13 AUGUST 25,2000 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE MANAGERS OF THE EAST HAMPTON LIBRARY HELD AT THE LIBRARY AT 4:00 P.M. Presdent, Tom Twomey, called the meetng to order at 4:00 p.m. Present: Chapman, Furlaud, Gray, Huntng, Lebwth, P. Mercer, N. Mercer, Nggles, Ross and Twomey. Absent: Abel, Cameron, Dayton, Epsten, Greene, Conner, McGurk, Murray, Randolph, Ratsep, Scheerer and Snyder. Presdent Twomey announced that we receved a check from the Jula Neagle estate for 160,000. Isabel suggested a commemoratve n apprecaton of Mrs. Neagle. All deas wll be welcome. Don Huntng presented the treasurer's report and sad the budget s on target. The Neagle donaton wll go nto the unrestrcted account. Jeanne Voorhees from the Chldrens'Room presented a report on ther program: Summer readng program had 108 chldren fnsh. 67 chldren attended the celebraton party at St. Lukes'. Jmmy Leo entertaned the chldren wth a lvely nteractve program and balloon sculpture work shop. Laure Lee Baur, a caterer, donated hundreds of cookes for refreshments. "Mommy and Me", for two and three year olds, sponsored by Nancy Kembock, was very popular for all eght meetngs and even attracted a few Daddys. "Scence Saturdays" wth Sal Tocc was fun and educatonal for over eght year olds. Craft workshops for 6-12 year olds were well attended. Story hour was held for 3,4 and 5-7 year olds. Great Amercan read Aloud was held n Englsh and Spansh wth local communty leaders readng to the chldren. Ths fall there wll be a "Short Story Contest" for 6-8 and 9-12 year olds. Professonal wrters wll judge the entres. Research s beng done on prntng the wnnng stores for an nsert n the local newspapers The Chldrens' Room had ther hghest crculaton to date wth 646 books checked out on August 14 th Howard Lebwth volunteered to be on the Publcty Commttee wth Stuart Epsten. Beth Gray announced the annual Trustee Workshop at SCLS on November 18 th. The theme wll be "Mqrketng Your Lbrary n the New Mllenum". Our board of managers have a responsblty to be nformed about the servces SCLS helps us to provde our patrons and ths workshop s a very good opportunty to see ther amazng facltes and meet other trustees. SCLS s easy tofnd, just off ext 55 on the Sunrse Hghway. Regstraton s pad by our lbrary and car poolng makes t fun.

14 I The Lbrary s near ther goal of rasng $60,000 at ths pont n the year havng rased $8,308 n august and $58,222 to date. Doreen Nggles reported that a Socety letter talored to appeal to the busness communty wll be maled. Also, the calendar project s almost ready for prntng wth the desgn, the photos and underwrters organzed. There wll be another malng for the Book Fund. At present, we have fve partcpants donatng $5,000. Of the 25,000 pool, just the nterest s used to buy books. Ann Chapman reported that members of the Long Island Collecton Commttee, Chapman, Ross and Twomey traveled to Brooklyn to meet wth Carol Clark, the Presdent of the Brooklyn Hstorcal Socety. It was a pleasant exploratory get acquanted meetng. Howard Lebwth reported that the Specal Events Commttee decded to have quarterly events n Themes under dscusson are a poetry event, a roundtable dscusson of "e-books", and an event wth novce authors and mentors dscussng wrtng and publshng. I Beth Gray announced that the Moore Foundaton gave the lbrary $10,000. Slm montors have been purchased for the crculaton desk and Beth's offce. 15 SEPTEMBER 15,2000, MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF MANAGERS OF THE EAST HAMPTON LIBRARY HELD AT THE LIBRARY AT 4:00 P.M. The presdent, Tom Twomey, called the meetng to order at 4:00 p.m. Present: Abel, Cameron, Chapman, Furlaud, Huntng, Lebwth, N. Mercer, P. Mercer, Nggles, Ratsep, Scheerer, Snyder and Twomey. John Walden was also present. Absent: Conner, Dayton, Epsten, Gray, Greene, McGurk, Murray, Randolph and Ross. Announcements: Board members should sgn letters upstars of people that they pcked to be on ther appeal lst. The Book Fund has receved two fve thousand dollar gfts durng the last week whch makes a total of 42,000 n the fund from eght donors. A moton was passed to approve the July and August mnutes as corrected. A moton was passed to set up a separate account n the Long Range captol Fund for the Naegle legacy of $161,500, subject to the treasurer's approval, who was not present at the meetng. A moton was passed to amend our charter for the thrd tme snce the foundng of the lbrary n the followng resoluton to formally nclude Sprngs and Wanscott n our servce area. RESOLVED, that the absolute charter granted to the East Hampton Lbrary, located n East Hampton, County of Suffolk, State of New York, and servng the East Hampton Free School Dstrct, whch was ncorporated by the Board of Regents under an absolute charter on August 31, 1911 n the name of East Hampton Free Lbrary, whch charter was amended on November 15, 1991, to change the name from East Hampton Free Lbrary to East Hampton Lbrary and add the IRS dssoluton language, and amended agan on September 18,1992 to change the number of trustees from sxteen to not less than fve nor more than twenty fve, be and the same hereby s amended by addng the areas served by both the Wanscott Common School Dstrct and the Sprngs Unon Free School Dstrct to the chartered servce area of the East Hampton Lbrary. John Walden thanked the board for the two new computers; now we have seven machnes that can be used for the Internet. The Long Range Commttee wll be meetng next week wth Jerry Nchols to dscuss ways of expandng our servces. Lbrary Socety: $59,372 has been receved from 304 people snce January 1, 2000, whch ncludes 94 new people. The lst of new homeowners who get welcomng letters from the lbrary wll be updated every few months.

16 I Doreen Nggles reported that the calendar wll be completed by November 1 st and should net $10,000. Most of the busnesses have made a three year commtment. Publcty: Stuart Epsten s workng on ads for promotng the lbrary n the local papers and also on the nternet. A moton was passed to go ahead wth these ads. Long Island Collecton: Ann Chapman reported that the book contanng the old postcards of East Hampton s sellng very well. Carol Clarke, the presdent of the Brooklyn Hstorcal Socety came out to East Hampton for lunch wth Ann, Dorothy Kng, Dana Dayton,Tom Twomey and Janet Ross. There mght be some collaboraton n perhaps dsplayng tems n our lbrary from ther collecton, such as old Indan 1842 deeds from Montauk and other documents. Grounds: Kate Cameron met wth members of the Wanwrght famly, who are donatng four rhodadendrums whch wll be placed aganst the Osborne lne wth a plaque between them n memory of ther mother, Mrs. Parsons Wanwrght. AT THE LIBRARY The presdent, Tom Twomey, called the meetng to order at 4:00 p.m. Present:Abel, Chapman, Dayton, Epsten, Gray, Greene, Lebwth, McGurk, Murray, Nggles, Randolph, Ratsep, Scheerer, Snyder and Twomey. Announcements: We have receved a total of $ 15,000 for the Book Fund from the latest malng. All the board members should make an effort to attend the trustee workshop at Belleport on November 18 th. The mnutes were accepted as corrected. The treasurer's report was approved. Drector's report: Hauppauge s startng ther own lbrary and we wll send them a letter of congratulatons and support We receved a letterfroma teacher of "Englsh as a Second Language", thankng us for the use of our lbrary for ther class. Ola Walker, one of our staff members, who has been n charge of nterlbrary loans and the books on tape collecton,was asked to attend workshops and won a blue rbbon. Marcy Val s a new staff member. The Long Range Plannng Commttee wll meet on Tuesday, October 17 th. Jerry Nchols has told us to decde on our vson and the vson of the communty for our lbrary and after nne months decde on a strategc plan. Lbrary Socety: $7,716 was receved n September whch makes a total for the year of $66,438 from 350 donors, wth 99 of them beng new donors. Doreen Nggles reported that the calender had been launched wth 12 busnesses contrbutng $1500 for a page and wll be sold for $^each. They wll be ready on November 1 st. Dana Dayton helped n gettng out the calender. Publcty: Stuart Epsten showed the board the ads by Marty Cook, one of the top men n advertsng, whch wll update the mage of our lbrary and wll be on the nternet. A moton was passed to allow up to $7500 to run one ad a month n the local papers. A letter of thanks wll be wrtten to Mr. Cook who s contrbutng hs talents at no charge. Fnance: A letter was wrtten to each commttee charman by Henry Murray, askng them to hand n ther budget to Beth Gray by November 1 st. The fnance commttee wll meet on December 8 th for thefnalresults.

18 I Conne Greene suggested a bonus for the staff and Henry Murray and John McGurk wll recommend an amount. Specal Events: Stuart Epsten and Howard Lebwth are plannng events for the four quarters of the year. We may need a professonal program coordnator; the Southampton Lbrary has one. A copy of the Lbrary Staff newsletter wth nformaton about the Long Island Collecton and news of upcomng actvtes at the lbrary was gven to each board member. Brooke Kreoger, a patron and judge for ths year's Natonal Nonfcton Book Award, has donated around 200 non fcton current ttles n exellent condton to the lbrary whch are worth over $6000. A letter wll be wrtten to Ms. Kroeger thankng her for ths very generous and useful donaton. Doreen Nggles receved loud applause for the beautful calender whch s now for sale at the desk and at Bookhampton. 1,000 copes were prnted, whch have all been pad for. Lbrary Socety: The goal of the Socety was to rase $130,000 ths year. Carolyn Synder reported that $124,206 has been receved to date. Carolyn's budget was $28,000 for the year and she has spent just under $26,750; the cost of the calender was $10,744. Many thanks were expressed for Carolyn's hard work and also for Shela Rogers' assstance wth the prntng and malng process. Long Island Room: Ann Chapman reported that the thrd volume of Long Island hstory called "Explorng the Past: The Hstory of the Town of East Hampton" wll come out n December. Ths s a complete collecton of wrtngs about East Hampton. Fnance Commttee: Ths commttee has met twce and wll fnalze the budget on December 4. Book Sale Commttee: The book sale on November 25 th was very successful and brought n $3,288.

20 I It was suggested by Tom Twomey that we not ask for an ncrease n funds from the School Dstrct n 2003 because of our very successful fund rasng. A $7,700 budget was proposed for publcty. A moton was passed to gve a Chrstmas bonus of one week's salary to the staff. A moton was passed to allow Pat Mercer $3200 to have cupboards nstalled upstars.
