3 HUMAN RELATONS BOARD Establshment: Ar tcle, Secton 5, Charter of the Cty of Sarasota Chapter 18, Artcle, Sarasota Cty Code Board Membershp - Qualfcatons and Other Requrements: a) The membershp of the Board shall consst of persons who possess the techncal, professonal, fnancal, busness, or admnstratve sclls s.dlls necessary to accomplsh the work of the Board.. b) Members of the Human Relatons Board shall not hold any other publc poston or offce n the government of the Cty. c ) Preference shall be gven to persons who resde or own property n the Cty, unless busness qualfcatons or a specal expertse warrants an excepton to the resdency/ property ownershp crtera. d) Members shall have reputatons for ntegrty and communty servce as well as have demonstrated an nterest n the type of actvty pertanng to the purpose of the Board. Board membershp shall be representatve of the communty-at-arge communty-at-large and reflect the racal, ethnc, and cultural makeup of the communty. e ) The Cty Commsson makes appontments from submtted applcatons. f) f ) No person shall serve on more than one Board smultaneously unless specal board membershp requrements, pertanng to specal qualfcatons lalfcatons of members, warrant an excepton. g) Board members shall be apponted for a three year term. ntal appontments to the Board shall be as follows: follows; 3 members shall be chosen to serve for one-year; 2 members shall be chosen to serve for two-years; and 2 members shall serve for a term of three-years. No person shall serve more than two full consecutve terms on anyone Board. Members shall contnue to serve untl a replacement has been apponted. After a one year perod of non-membershp, a person shall become elgble for reappontment to a Board on whch that person prevously served. h) Board members shall automatcally be removed from membershp for falure to attend three successve meetngs, excludng workshop meetngs, or at such tme that t he member's absences exceed 25 % of all scheduled meetngs, ncludng workshop meetngs, n a gven year f the absence has not been approved by the Board, n advance, for good cause shown.
