Throughout safety week there will be daily e-blasts with daily quizzes to win a Sooner Safety t-shirt. Lunch will be provided to the first 100 people that show up for the presentations. From the website you can find information about the rewards program, tobacco cessation, information about Weight Watchers at work, the employee assistance program, and health education. Be an ambassador for employee wellness, encourage health crew! Lydi Zavy and Kevin Fitzgerald TAL Financial Planning The implementing of the TAL (Time, Attendance and Leave) system is quickly approaching. The last monthly paycheck will be May 29. For all the details, and list of Town Hall meetings go to the OUHSC website, search: TAL. Approval of December 2014 Minutes A motion was made by Kimberley Johnson and seconded by Heidi Pettit to approve the minutes from the December 2014 meeting with a correction to the spelling of Kimberley. Motion passed. II. Staff Senate Spotlight January Kimberley M. Johnson, Sr. Administrative Assistant, Allied Health Sciences & Alumni Affairs Kimberley has been on the HSC campus for 7 years. Kimberley recently had the opportunity to go to Colonial Williamsburg, a live history museum on the ground of the historic former capital of Virginia and found it amazing to see original buildings and feel like you were in a different time. Kimberley is very involved with a dinner theater in Moore called the Yellow Rose Dinner Theater where they do live original music shows, tributes and plays. She is also a huge Hello Kitty fan. Kimberley feels that Staff Senate is a great way to get outside her area and get to know other wonderful people on campus. It has given her the opportunity to utilize some talents and skills that she doesn t necessarily get to use during her day job. She would like to see more employee awareness of Staff Senate and staff participation, specifically involving new employees. Kimberley has served on the Staff Week committee in the past and is currently on the Employee Recognition Committee. Favorite quote: Everyone has a story. Look past the outward appearance the façade and look within. Only then we would realize the true human element and learn to be nicer to ourselves and in turn nicer and more tolerant of others. Staff Senate Spotlight February 2015 Heidi M. Martin, Administrative Assistant, Office of the Dean, College of Dentistry Heidi has been with the HSC 6 years this coming March. She enjoys hiking, exploring, crafts and hanging with her two grandkids, Lily and Landon. She has two children, Joshua age 28 and Aubree age 20. She has recently gone on some short trips enjoying the great state of Oklahoma. Heidi says that when she first heard about Staff Senate and began to receive s about events such as the Annual Staff Appreciation luncheon and Employee of the Month she realized that OUHSC goes

4 above and beyond in so many ways. After 5 years she felt confident enough to run for Senator and is proud to be a part of such a wonderful group and plans to join a committee in the near future. Heidi would like to see a spotlight on individual colleges that showcases their growth, changes and achievements and also making improvements to on-campus parking for visitors and staff. Philosophy of life: Accept what is, let go of what was, have faith in what will be. IV. Committee Reports: a. Community Outreach Committee Leah Lewis The new co-chairs will report next month. The next meeting is Tuesday, February 18, c. Employee of the Month Committee presented by Jennie McCartney The December 2014 EOM is Tim Johnson, IT Architect and Manager in the department of Central IT Field Operations. Tim s reception was held at 1:30 on Thursday, December 11, 2014, in the Rogers Building, Rm 400. Our January 2015 EOM was Shona Whitehead, Sponsored Program Coordinator in the department of Pediatrics. Shona s reception was held Thursday, January 29 th at 3:30pm in the OU Children s Physician Building, Room Our February 2015 EOM is Laci Jehl, Student Services Coordinator for the College of Nursing. Members of the Staff Senate traveled to Lawton on Friday, January 23 rd to surprise Laci with the great news since she works with OU nursing students on the Cameron campus in Lawton. Laci s

5 reception is scheduled for Tuesday, February 24 th in the College of Nursing Building, Room 138. The EOM committee continues to encourage nominations. If you know a deserving staff member who meets the criteria, please nominate them or encourage their supervisor/department to do so. d. Employee Recognition Committee presented by Don Clothier Everything is on schedule for the staff luncheon. Great committee this year! Invitations were sent 2 weeks ago. Awards will be done by OU Printing Services this year to help cut costs. Tickets are $ Still in need of pictures of events for the slide show. e. Special Projects Committee presented by Carol Clure Over 100 Valentine cookie orders were placed. The orders will be delivered Thursday and Friday. These items are perishable items, PLEASE PICK THEM UP! f. Staff Week Committee presented by Heidi Petitt April will be Staff Week. The early order to the committee for staff t-shirts has been sent. This year s theme for Staff Week is: Super Hero. Please order, and tell others to order. All the proceeds from the Special Projects help support Staff Week. V. Unfinished Business None VI. VII. VIII. New Business presented by Leah Lewis a. In honor of President Boren s 20 year anniversary Staff Senate will present him with a $500 student fund, in his name. The fund, Sooners Helping Sooners is aimed to help OUSHC students. The fund will be administered by the OUHSC Office of Student Affairs. b. Staff Senate will sponsor Active Shooters, held on Thursday, March 5, during Sooner Safety Week. Announcements February 17 Chili Cook Off, at the College of Allied Health March 7 5K Run, sponsored by the College of Pharmacy Adjournment A motion was made by Laura Lopez, seconded by Crystal Keene to adjourn the meeting. All were in favor. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 11:02 a.m. The next meeting will be held March 5, 2015, in the Robert M Bird Library Auditorium.
