1 Inter-Club Council Minutes Date: March 19th, 2018 Time: 2:30-3:30 p.m. Location: 9C-Stage I. CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order at 2:32pm. II. III. IV. FLAG SALUTE APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. March 5, 2018 Minutes i. Printed copies of the March 5 th minutes were handed out. The last day that minutes will be printed and handed out is at the April 2 nd ICC meeting. E-files of the minutes will be available upon request as well as on the ICC website ( ii. Revisions: Melanie should be changed to Melany in Board Communication. iii. Motion/Second: Chemistry/Math&Engineering. Abstain from ALP and CIS. Minutes pass. ROLL CALL A. Roll-call will be administered through a sign-in sheet at the front upon entering. It will be available for the first 10 minutes of the meeting. If a club fails to sign in during this time, or leaves earlier than 10 minutes from the end of the meeting, that club will be considered absent from the meeting. Three absences will render a club deactivated, per the ICC constitution. Attendance will be counted starting at the April 2 nd ICC meeting. V. OPEN FORUM: is open to the public to address The public may address the board. Under provisions of the Brown Act, Student Government is prohibited from taking action on oral requests that are not part of the agenda. Comments are limited to no more than three minutes per person. A. Mario Gabriel Alfaro running for Mt. SAC Student Trustee. Running because wants students to have a voice on the board (of Trustees). Provided his cell: (909) B. Blanca Juarez with High School Outreach shared 2 volunteering opportunities. First is Transfer Con, Friday April 6 th (need help from 7am-2:30p). Ten to fifteen volunteers needed. Volunteers will help during lunch and check in and with monitoring the rooms where the workshops will be in. Flyers were distributed. Second is Senior Saturday, Saturday April 28 th 7am-3pm. Event is for incoming seniors who re going to graduate and come to Mt. SAC. Flyers were distributed. Volunteers will give tours, escort, serve food, guide from parking lots to event. Twenty or more volunteers needed. Bjuarez20@mtsac.edu Flyers will be posted on the Mt. SAC Inter-Club Council Facebook page. VI. GUEST SPEAKERS A. Stephanie Lopez International Program i. Slopez7@mtsac.edu ii. Program Specialist for International Student Program introduced 2 opportunities.

2 Global Pals (matching international students with Mt. SAC students based on foodie or outdoor group to go on fun trips). All free. Global Café (one a month have a global pop-up). Will serve beverages and foods unique to specific cultures. Several dates with different cultures, but will be at the International Student Center. Flyers were distributed and will also be posted on the Mt. SAC Inter-Club Council Facebook page. B. Vanessa Ulloa & Esther Hernandez Nunez ACES i. Vulloa3@mtsac.edu ii. ehernandeznunez@mtsac.edu iii. Promoting the Get Financially Lit event. Two-hour commitment with food and prizes. Attendees will learn about budgeting to be able to pay for all their different finances. March 27 th is the next one from 9-11am or 4-6pm. Flyers were distributed and will also be posted on the Mt. SAC Inter-Club Council Facebook page. C. Jared Burton Library i. Jburton6@mtsac.edu ii. Coordinator for Mt. SAC Student Sustainability Rewards. All students can apply. Deadline is April 1 st (this is the extended deadline). There are 5 awards given, each $500. To apply: go to website, follow instructions. There are several categories to compete in. D. Taylor Muse Associated Students i. tmuse@student.mtsac.edu ii. Cross-Cultural Senator for students announcing the annual Cross-Cultural Fair on April 26 th from 3-6pm. The theme is carnival: clubs decide on a country or culture and how they celebrate. Must provide the name, date, history, and purpose of the culture/country festival. Clubs decorate their own booth and must provide an activity. First come first served in terms of which culture each club can represent. This can count as an A.S. collaboration for club points if there are 5 volunteers with at least 10 hours amongst them. This will also be posted on the Mt. SAC Inter-Club Council Facebook page. VII. REPORTS A. ICC Advisor, Julia Walker i. Updates 1. Club Activation Deadline: March 23 at 4pm ii. Upcoming Events: 1. Mountie Fresh Day: April 10 at Kerr s Corner 10am 3pm a. Yellow half-sheets handed out. Please fill out, detailing how many volunteers from your club are able to help and what their shirt sizes are. Volunteers are needed. Turn in half sheet to Michelle or Julia in the 9C student life center by April 2 nd or earlier if possible. 2. Legacy of Leadership: March 20 at Founders Hall 5pm-6:30pm a. Connect with young professionals on March 21 st in Founders Hall. Will be posted on the Facebook page. iii. Contact: jwalker55@mtsac.edu B. ICC Co-Chair, Michelle Ravel i. Binders

Binders will be handed out at the following ICC meeting and will include flyers, contact list, etc. This is a way for ICC Reps to keep their club information organized to report back to their teams with. It will also be collected at the end of the semester for club points. ii. Club of the Year Information 1. Friendly competition between all of the clubs on campus to work competitively and cooperatively with each other. Winners gain a monetary prize and an area in the 9C building to publicize their club. The point breakdown is currently being revised, but clubs can gain points by collaborating with Associated Students, collaborating with other clubs, attending ICC meetings, participating in Join-A-Club, etc. Contact Michelle for more information! iii. Join-A-Club Booth Winners 1. 1 st place: IDEAS 2 nd place: EAGLE 3 rd place: MEChA pending club activation of these clubs. Money will be put into the individual club accounts. iv. Senator Positions Open a. Senator positions open in Associated Students. Positions that will be open: Athletics Senator, Cross-Cultural Senator, Environmental Senator, Faculty Relations Senator, ICC Senator, Political Senator, and Student Services Senator. If interested, please contact Michelle at mravel@student.mtsac.edu th Congressional District Forum a. Get to know the candidates who are running for House seats in the 39 th congressional district election. Candidates will be coming to Mt. SAC (at the 9C stage) on April 13 th from 10am- 2pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions with them to ask the panel; if you cannot attend, please send questions to Brian Moon, Associated Students President, at bmoon4@student.mtsac.edu. 3. College-wide Committees a. A.S. President is currently sitting on 12 college-wide committees. These committees are supposed to include voices from all sections of campus: administrators, faculty, and STUDENTS! Mt. SAC is here to serve our students, and to best do that it needs to hear the student voice! Any student is allowed to sit on the committee; please contact Brian Moon at bmoon4@student.mtsac.edu if interested. Flyer introduced what Congress has been deciding in terms of DACA and how it affects our DACA students. Flyer provided

4 with pictures. If interested in more information, please Ruben. 5. ii. Giovanni Rodriguez, Student Activities Coordinator 1. Parliamentary Procedure Training a. Coordinator of Student Activities, advisor to the Associated Students. Gio gave a thorough training in parliamentary procedures, why they re so useful, and how to utilize them during ICC meetings and any other board meetings. ICC Reps constitute the board of the Inter-Club Council as they are the voting members. Gio also spoke about the Brown Act of California, noting that agendas must be posted at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting for public view. VIII. IX. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. None ACTION ITEMS A. BOARD COMMUNICATION Members of the Board will report on matters related to upcoming events, conferences, current projects, community involvement, news, and updates directly related to their functions and responsibilities as I.C.C. Representatives. Comments are limited to two (2) minutes per person. A. Melany from PTK survey giving feedback on homeless students attending Mt. SAC. Results will be brought to the Board of Trustees to request services for these students. Flyers were distributed and will be posted on the Mt. SAC Inter-Club Council Facebook page. B. Michael from CIS Computer Information Services department just approved an event on Saturday, April 21 st 9am-6pm at building 78. Microsoft professionals will come in to talk about cloud computing and cloud resources. This is important because almost nobody knows about it and even fewer know how to do it, so it ll put you ahead in your career endeavors. All students are welcome to come, everything is free.
