Staff Senate began in November of 1973 and it consists of members across the campus. Staff Senate senators are elected annually and are appointed by each College or University group. Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 10:00 a.m. The purpose of the Staff Senate is to represent the body of staff employees of OUHSC and to serve as a liaison between the University and the staff. Senator responsibilities consist of attendance in Theresa Lander, Mary Glover, Jessica Johnson, Sylvia Love, April Wilkerson, Casey Carter, Elizabeth Charles, Jovan Smith, Meagan Gloss, Omalara Henley, Kerrie Lemons, Candace Peak, Teddy Ricketson, LaDonna Tyner, Holly Weldon Suzanne Bauman, Suzanne Stewart Group V Amy Anderson Carly Nguyen Group VI Group VII Group VIII Jade Owen, Tina Voyles Audra Main. Stefanie Kirk, Jennie Robison Vicky Wilson, Nicole Sorick, Gregory Zornes, Crystal Keene, Lauren Bristow, Delissa McKenzie, Michele Doughty, Talia Carter, Dyreece John, Kelli Dyer

2 both regular and special meetings, relay information from meeting to staff employees on a regular basis. There are several campus events and activities that are put on by the Staff Senate and all proceeds from the fundraisers are used to provide Staff Week events, Payday on payday, Christmas tree lighting and reception. We at the Staff Senate would like to encourage any and all who would like to be a part of this great organization to join us. Call to Order: Joseph Schmidt Staff Senate Chair, 10:06 a.m. meeting called to order. Quorum present. I. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Stefani Kirk, seconded by Debbie Arnold to approve the minutes from the June 2017 meeting. Motion passed. II. Staff Senate Spotlight presented by Joseph Schmidt August 2017 Crystal Keene Crystal married her high school sweetheart, John right out of high school. They celebrated 22 years of marriage in July. Together they have two daughters - 13 year old Kiley and 11 year old Madison. Both of the girls are involved in Soccer. Last August they went Scuba diving in St. Maarten for vacation. Crystal graduated from Del City High school and received her undergrad and Grad degrees from OSU and OCU. She just recently completed the Legal Assistant Education certification program form the OU College of Law. She has been employed at OUHSC for 13 years in August and is currently serving her 2 nd term in Staff Senate. Crystal says she has always looked forward to volunteering on Staff Senate activities where she truly meets the best people. She currently serves on two committees, Staff Week and Special Projects Committee. Favorite saying: Love God. Love Others. IV. Committee Reports: a. Community Outreach Committee presented by Mary Gonzalez The Outreach Community has the Cavette Kids drive going on August In October, the committee plans to provide a meal to the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House on campus. The committee will be accepting food donations at that time. c. Employee of the Month Committee presented by Leslee Smith The reception for the June Employee of the Month for Nikki Neel, Parking Supervisor in OUHSC Parking and Transportation Services was held Tuesday, June 27 th at 2:00 p.m., in the Service Center Building Snack Bar. Congrats Nikki!! July EOM was Tiffney Cardwell, Sr. Administrative Assistant in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery, in the College of Medicine. Her reception was on Thursday, July 13 th, in the Andrews Academic Tower. There were many people who came to support and congratulate Tiffney. Our August EOM is Lindsay Pettis, Fitness Specialist of the University Health Club. Her reception will be held on Friday, August 25 th at 1 pm, at the Health Clubs snack bar area. The EOM committee continues to encourage nominations. If you know a deserving staff member who meets the criteria, please nominate them or encourage their supervisor/department to do so. d. Employee Recognition Committee presented by Nancy Geiger We are excited to announce our new Co-Chair, LaDonna Tyner who has graciously agreed to help this year along with Nancy Geiger. Surveys went out campus wide soliciting feedback on this year s ceremony a few weeks ago; meeting in the next few weeks to compile/review for next year s planning. Currently reviewing venues and budget options for the 2018 ceremony which will likely be the first week in May next year. Once date is confirmed with all necessary parties, we will announce so it can be added to everyone s calendar. Committee meetings will resume in the fall around October, more information to follow. Thank you again to all last year s committee and volunteers, we hope you will join us again as we prepare for e. Special Projects Committee presented by Nicole Sorrick Working on the fall and Christmas fundraisers. Also the Fall Craft Fair is on Friday, October 6, f. Staff Week Committee presented by Marty Walton Nothing new to report. g. Shared Leave Committee Will continue to promote Power of the Hour. Please continue to share information about how much donating even 1 hour of your shared leave will help.

5 V. Unfinished Business None VI. New Business Presented by Carol Clure The Staff Senate office is in the process of moving to new location in University Research Park, Bldg. 865 Room 529. VII. Announcements Presented by Carol Clure Wacky games will be Friday, September 22, A sponsor for the game H20 Throw is needed. The sponsor would be responsible for supplying balloons, filling them with water the morning of, and coordinating the game and keeping score. A big Thank you to the College of Nursing for the many years they had sponsored this game. VIII Adjournment A motion was made by Nicole Sorick, seconded by Crystal Keene, to adjourn the meeting.
