Staff Senate Spotlight presented by Laura Scobey June 2016 Keri Davis, Student Affairs Coordinator, College of Medicine, Office of Student Affairs Keri has been at OUHSC for 10 years, she has served on the Staff Week Committee and was Co- Chair of Staff Week from Keri and husband Kyle have been married for 18 years! They four children: Trevor (22), Price (19), Maci (13) and Parker (11). She goes snow skiing at Angel Fire every February and to the Gulf Shores every June. Keri thinks Staff Senate is important because it promotes Staff/Employee recognition. Happy employees increase individual productivity, have lower absenteeism, stress and accidents on the job. Happy Employees are loyal to their employer and have higher customer satisfaction scores. It s important for employees to feel appreciated by their employer. It would be neat to have a peer recognition program (nothing big like the employee of the month) but something that a co-worker could submit for an employee that goes above and beyond in their office or department. Sometimes the manager doesn t always see everything that happens in an office. When I grow up! Q. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A. An Archaeologist. Philosophy: Always do the right thing! We tell our kids this all the time, Integrity is important! IV. Committee Reports: a. Community Outreach Committee presented by Mary Gonzales No meeting. Next event in August. c. Employee of the Month Committee presented by Kaitlyn Palone Derrick Grady, Business Manager II, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, College of Medicine, is the EOM for May. Derrick s reception was held on Thursday, May 26, at 11:00 a.m. at the Biomedical Sciences Bldg. 109 Foyer Area. Leslie Robinson, Prior Authorization Coordinator, College of Pharmacy, is the EOM for June. Leslie s reception will be held on Wednesday, June 29 th, at 2:30 p.m., at the O Donoghue Research Building, 4 th floor. The EOM committee continues to encourage nominations. If you know a deserving staff member who meets the criteria, please nominate them or encourage their supervisor/department to do so. d. Employee Recognition Committee presented by George Schmerer No report. The venue for this event will change. If you want to serve on this committee, please volunteer. e. Special Projects Committee presented by Joseph Schmidt Craft Fair on Friday, June 10 th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Summer fundraiser items will be on sale till June 10 th. The committee helped a specific employee with 483 hours. If you add those hours to the current total, we reached our goal of 2015 hours collected. V. Unfinished Business presented by George Schmerer Interest forms available if you are wanting to get involve with a committee. Everyone needs to fill out a committee form, whether currently on a committee or not. VI. New Business Presented by George Schmerer Presentation of certificates to the Executive Officers, Senators and Committee Chairs George thanked everyone for their service and time to the Staff Senate and Committees. George was awarded with his certificate and was thanked for his enthusiasm and love for Staff Senate! It was a good year, George! VII. VIII. 12 Staff Senate Spotlight Kelli Dyer Administrative Manager Parking & Transportation Staff Senate has helped me to be a participating member of campus outside of my department. INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT KELLI! Kelli recently traveled to Dallas to see the Eagles of Death Metal (a rock band) and Roman Nose to hike during Memorial Day. Attended US Grant High School Loves the Prix De West at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. Visits the Jacobsen House at OU often. And collects Mexican Folk art and Native American art. She and husband Paul have been married since March 2007 (coincidentally the same month and year she started working on campus). They have 4 cats, a Chihuahua, 2 tarantulas, a Vinegaroon and a scorpion. Kelli enjoys art, walking and exercising. Exercise is great, but finding the drive is sometimes difficult. WHEN I GROW UP! Q- When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? She has served on the Community Outreach Committee and volunteered for Staff Week this year. A-- Troublemaker, I think I slid right into that role without much trouble.
