6 Page 6 THE MAINLANDER CARS BELONG OFF THE GRASS! Did you know that it was a VIOLATION to park vehicles on the grass in Mainlands 1 & 2? Did you also know that parking horizontally on the driveway was also a violation? Do you know why? It s really a simple matter: such parking infractions are hazardous to lawns as well as irrigation systems. Maintenance of both the lawns and sprinklers costs homeowners a lot of money. 10 Page 10 THE MAINLANDER DEEDS - Q.- Where can I find a copy of my deed? A.- A Broward County Web Site. On the internet, you may go to: (Courtesy of Lori Parrish) Go to the Property Search page, read the statement shown, and click on "Accept." Click on the "Owner Name" button, and search by your Last Name, followed by a comma, and then your First Name. Do not use a space. After hitting the SEARCH button, you must select your property from a list. To select your property, click on the Parcel Number that is in the same row as your address. All of the information on your property should be displayed. More than half way down this document, there will be a section labeled "Sales History." Click on top Book Number (colored blue) to be sent to the most current version of the deed. Copies of recorded deeds and mortgages related to Broward properties are also directly searchable online at the Broward County Records Division website. You may search for deeds, mortgages, liens, release of liens, court judgments, condo declarations, and various other recorded documents on their website. If you have questions for the County Records Division, they may be reached at There is no fee for viewing any of these documents. (Note: the County Records Division is NOT affiliated with the Property Appraiser's Office.) CREATIVE WRITING PROGRAM The Fall semester has been an exciting and busy one for the members of the class. Using uniquely expressive styles and assignment interpretations, they have produced six fictional narratives centered on the themes of humor, individuality and surprise. In addition to their consistent focus on the use of crisp, vivid imagery in developing the elements of plot and characterization, they have incorporated the concepts of flashback and irony in order to enrich narrative development. During the Spring semester (beginning Jan. 17th), our writers will be challenged to create multipart fictional stories and, later on, they will produce ones containing sub-plots. I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to teach this group of twelve motivated, interested, and immensely talented women. Ed Huckemeyer, Instructor
