Thank you to Lynn Hillman for arranging for her, Dorothy Chance, to speak. Doris Teich has done another fine job of selling our Entertainment Books. We made $ 161 on them. Thank you, Doris. We are looking forward to a funfilled and wonderful Holiday Party on Dec. 7. Don t forget to bring your Toy for the Marines. Hope to see you all there. If you are unable to attend, we wish you the very best of Holidays and all the best for the coming year. We are hoping to see more of you at all our fun events. We will meet there at 5:30 p.m. to see the museum and dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. The date will be announced at the January coffee meeting. And a e- blast will also be sent out with date information. LUNCHEON The December Luncheon will be our Holiday Party on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 11:00 at Twin Oaks Golf Course at 1425 N. Twin Oaks Valley Road, San Marcos,CA. There will be no luncheon in January LEI CHEF S Will be at the home of Linda Mueller on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 12:30. A delicious Holiday Menu is planned. Sharon Hayes will be our hostess. Our January read will be The Gentleman from Moscow by Amor Towles, Sandy Stevens will be hosting. Our February selection is Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner. Please let our hostesses know of your planned attendance. Maureen Tutino COFFEE We will not have a Coffee Meeting in December. We will be holding our fourth annual Chinese Auction at the January 2018 coffee meeting. If you have received a gift which is not quite right for you, please think about donating it to our auction. If you have some other pristine item which you would like to donate, we would welcome that as well. Please bring your donated items to the January coffee. Auction tickets will be $1 each or 6 for $5. 4 BOARD MEETING There will be no Board Meeting in December. Our January board meeting will be held at the home of Elizabeth DeBoer at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23. All members are invited to attend board meetings. Please notify your hostess of your planned attendance. MOVIE DAY There will be no movie for December. It is too far out to know the movie schedule for January at this time. The January movie will be announced at coffee on January 11. Call or Sandy Stevens. Trudy Snell SUNSHINE I sent get well cards to Vickie Williams, Carla Berhold and Ardis McAndrew. Vickie had a 4 way bi-pass last. She is in rehab at Astor Care at this time. I just spoke to Wilma and she told me that Vickie is doing very well and will be at Astor Care for another two weeks or so. So happy to hear the good news. Carla had her gall bladder removed. Trudy was with her the entire time. She brought Carla to the hospital early in the morning and brought her home after 12:00 noon. Trudy, you are one of a kind when it comes to helping anyone of us in need. Thanks to you dear friend. In last s, Sunshine News I said that Ardis had her hip replaced. Well, I was misinformed. She finally did have the operation. I haven t heard anything regarding her recovery. We however wish her a speedy one. Take care Ardis and hope to see you at our coffee soon. I want to thank Judy Patterson and Ardis McAndrew for the beautiful greeting cards they gave me. Thank you again dear friends. 8

We sold 23 books (12 to members & 11 to my friends). 5 will be returned, Out total profit is $ ($ from book sales & $25.00, donation). This is the LAST year of this non-supported fundraiser. 6 BUNCO NEWS Looking for subs. We now have 11 regular players where there should be 12. I m looking for that 12th player. Please let me know if you would be interested in joining our Bunco group and be a regular player. You do know that the game is a no brainer but we do have so much fun. Mary Held ( *********** FINE DINING GROUP *************** Sunday, December 31 the fine dining group will be meeting at the Sheraton in Carlsbad to celebrate the New Year. We will have a semi-private back room and be served a 4 course prix fix meal $85 +tax and tip. The meal will consist of an appetizer, salad and your choice of Beef, Pork or Salmon. Multiple desserts will also be available. Champagne will be served at midnight. Other alcoholic drinks will need to be paid for at time of order. A disc jockey will be providing entertainment for the evening with music and dancing. Our reservations are for 8:30 p.m. Please contact Mary Dahlberg if you would like to attend. We have some exciting news to share in this newsletter. First of all, long time member MARILYN GROOVER recently visited us at our Oct. coffee meeting. She flew down for a week of visiting with her sister. While here, her plans include a trip to the zoo and Sea World and seeing old friends. Marilyn loves her new home, church, and hiking group. Secondly, LINDA MUELLER recently returned from a 29 day cruise of the South Pacific.She enjoyed sightseeing, water activities, and 10

Next, SANDY STEVENS is also traveling from Nov. 24-Dec. 16. Her trip includes stops in Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Slovenia. Sandy will celebrate her 75th birthday while on the trip. Happy Birthday, Sandy! And speaking of birthdays, longtime member VIRGINIA DEBOER celebrated her 90th birthday (Nov.5) with family and many long time friends at a big party on Oct. 29. Very Happy Birthday, Virginia! Guess who is celebrating their 16th birthday in December, Trudy s grandson Andrew. He will be celebrating with an orange theme and a cherry chocolate cake. Andrew & Trudy on Mother s Day Trent getting his award Trudy s other grandson Trent was the winner of a patriotic poster contest sponsored by the Rocklin Police Department. He was the winner from the 1st grade category. He won $50, a medal and gift cards. If you have any happy and exciting news for the column, let me know.
