Daniel recognized Jessica Dougan o Jessica will serve as chapter Vice President for 2017 o Jessica will serve as chapter President in MSU Alumni Chapter Leadership Conference o Daniel R, Jessica, Walker, Stephen, and Alex represented MMC chapter o Discussed comments from Dr. David Shaw: VP for Research & Economic Development o Discussed enrollment numbers from John Dickerson Assistant VP for Enrollment o Discussed comments from John Cohen Director of Athletics Mississippi Stately Dinner Mon Jan 31 st at Napa Café o Parker and Leanna hosted this event on behalf of the Office of Admissions o High school students that have been admitted to the university but may not have yet committed to attending o Parker and Leanna had representatives from the university, current students, and local alumni all seated to interact with the students and their parents. o Daniel represented on behalf of the alumni association

2 As this was the first meeting for 2017 we started with new business Future meetings will have committee reports following opening comments. 6:10-6:50 New Business MMC 2017 Binders Daniel distributed 2017 binders to each (1) office and (2) committee chair Goal is to keep these to provide a roadmap for the MMC members that step into those roles after us Recommend each office / chair keep notes of any contacts, contracts, etc. for future reference MMC 2017 Secretary As Jessica has moved into the VP position we are in need to a volunteer to fill this role Primary responsibilities would include o Taking minutes of all chapter meetings o Sending these reports to all MMC board members as well as Janet / Michael with MSU Alumni Assoc. o Maintain a chapter distribution list (template was passed around at meeting) For those interested please contact Daniel / Jessica MMC 2017 Social Media Chair (new board position) Walker Price volunteered to be the 2017 chair for the MMC Social Media accounts o Facebook & Twitter o Creating an Instagram account o Meredith updating accounts to give Walker admin rights Goal is to be more proactive as a chapter posting on a regular basis All board members are encouraged to tag the MMC when at Bulldog events MSU Alumni Association Page Updates We need to update the MMC page on the Alumni Association Website o Update 2017 Officers o Update upcoming events Golf, Baseball at AutoZone Park, Happy Hour, etc

3 MMC Scholarship Eligibility Daniel reviewed his discussion with LeAnna Smith Stewardship Coordinator at MSU Per MSU Alumni Page chapter serves (4) counties in TN and (3) counties in AR Currently scholarship is only available to Shelby County residents Michael w/ MSU Alumni Assoc. confirmed all 7 counties are included in the rebate the MMC chapter receives from alumni that pay their dues Daniel recommended the scholarship be amended to allow students from these 7 counties to be eligible Board unanimously voted in agreement Daniel will be contacting LeAnna Smith as well as Janet / Michael MMC Scholarship 2017 and 2018 Pledge During the Alumni Chapter conference we were told that our check would be due earlier o John Dickerson: jrd72@msstate.edu o Naron Remillard: n.remillard@msstate.edu The goal is to have checks in from the chapters the beginning of February, to award students in Feb / March Daniel recommended the following o Fall 2017 scholarship (4) $1,000 scholarships $2,416 utilize spendable funds from the Endowment Scholarship $1.584 check to the university This is a onetime use of these funds, to get ahead with our fundraising commitment o Fall 2018 scholarship (4) $1,000 scholarships The summary 2017 scholarship will fund our fall 2018 goal The board will use this format moving forward Board unanimously voted in agreement Daniel will notify LeAnna Smith as well as Janet / Michael Lucas will be writing / mailing check for the 2017 balance due MMC Budget for 2017 Daniel distributed a budget template for the 2017 year o Thanks to Lucas, Pierce, Hollis, and Alex for the data provided Reviewed potential expenses and income Highlighted importance of everyone getting involved in Golf Tournament o Getting teams to play o Getting companies to sponsor

4 MMC Golf Tournament May 1 st at Spring Creek Daniel and Pierce met with Greg King (Director of Golf) at Spring Creek on Jan 18 th o Our rates are locked for 2 more years (2017 & 2018) o Event: The Scott McNeer Memorial Golf Tournament Benefiting the Memphis Maroon Club Mission o Date: Monday May 1 st o Location: Spring Creek Ranch 149 Chinquapin Drive Collierville, TN o Teams: 4 man scramble Pierce discussed new sponsorship levels Daniel provided list of companies we currently have signs for o Some of these we have connections for, others we need to find the connection o Getting these companies to sponsor is a win, as we won t have to purchase a new sign o The list will accompany the meeting notes Before you reach out to a company.contact Pierce o He will be keeping a mater template. o We don t want the same company to get multiple calls Cowbells o Steven has the contact o Order (3) Mulligans o Board voted (1) for each team member and (1) they can purchase for $10 Putting Contest o Pierce looking for companies to man this during the day Drink Cart o Board voted to not to have coolers as we ll run out o Board voted to keep it the same as last year Items o Board voted for (1/2) hats and (1/2) visors o We are not going to do golf towels as Pierce may have a sponsor that will provide these MSU Baseball at AutoZone Park Tue March 28 th Daniel spoke with Lee VanHorn Coordinator of Baseball Operations o Confirmed we would be feeding the team again o Stated they will be spending the night working on team travel plans o We ll either feed them there, hotel, other venue Daniel spoke with Jim Ellis o Confirmed we could raffle (2) ½ innings on air with Jim o Jessica building Eventbrite for raffle Board recommend $20 per ticket o Walker to work on promotion piece (for social media and for Jessica to send to Michael / Janet) o Walker to see if possible to get on radio o Board recommend $20 per ticket

5 MMC Letter Writing Campaign Lauren spoke with Casey McGee Assistant Coordinator for Chapter & Recruitment Programs Per MMC board meeting in Oct / Nov we agreed to send cards to area students that had been admitted to MSU Each board member took 10 names (Over 100 names distributed) Lauren provided cards, envelopes, and stamps o Please get these in the mail this week! MMC Happy Hour Thursday Feb 23th We will have our first happy hour of the year on Thursday the 23 rd at Ghost River Time: 5:30pm- 7:00pm Will start promoting on social media Be sure to like event on Facebook and send to area Bulldogs MMC Young Alumni Baseball Watch Party TBD Chelsea is working on a date for a young alumni tailgate to watch a game (will be on a Thursday or Saturday in April or May) Details to come MMC Fundraising Opportunity At conference Daniel spoke with Lucas Vaughn General Merchandise Manager (Barnes & Noble) Opportunity for MMC to order shirts through university and sell them at MMC events o Road Dawg o Baseball at AutoZone Park o Game Viewing o SEC Kickoff Weekend Daniel adjourned the meeting at 7:05 p.m.
