NFPA President, Jim Pauley welcomed the committee and panel chairs. Self-Introductions were made and Correlating Chair Mike Johnston acknowledged the following: Christine Porter was recognized as being the first female appointed as a NEC Correlating Committee member. Vince Saporita with Easton's Bussmann Business and Keith Lofland with IAEI were acknowledged as recent recipients of the IAEI Road Runner award. 4 Item Review and Approval of 2014 NEC Style Manual Stan Folz, Chair of the Usability TG, presented the revised style manual and reviewed the major changes. The Correlating Committee voted unanimously to forward the 2014 NEC Style Manual to the Standards Council for approval at their next meeting. Item Inter-Committee Coordination Task Group Mark Earley reported that there is no current activity but it is anticipated there will be activity forthcoming for standards not under the purview of the NEC. Neil LaBrake mentioned that the Correlating Committee task group is working with NFPA 99 and Panel 15 members on performance issues. The task group is waiting to see what revisions NFPA 99 makes during the First draft stage of the A2017 revision cycle. Item The following TIAs (previously issued) were reviewed: TIA 14-1 (SC /TIA Log #1096) Reference: TIA 14-2 (SC /TIA Log #1117) Reference: Table (a) TIA 14-3 (SC /TIA Log #1120) Reference: TIA 14-4 (SC / TIA Log #1151) Reference: (A) TIA 14-5 (SC / TIA Log #1152) Reference: 590.6(A)(1) TIA 14-6 (SC / TIA Log #1133) Reference: 590.6(A)(1) Item Task Group Reports Advisory TG on Committee Structure Merton Bunker noted that to date, the task group has reviewed 49 applications, all of which were for the NEC panels. Panel 15 had one application from HCA which is already fully represented. All other applicants were recommended for appointment. More applications are expected in the coming months. Mark Earley noted that the Standards Council met last week and applicants should be notified of their appointments soon. Kim Shea provided updated panel lists to all chairs for their information. Ambient Temperature Correction Factors TG Chair Larry Ayer reported that this task group included members from research and testing as well as university professors. The Panel 6 chair developed a PI proposing to elevate conductors off the roof by 1 inch and deleting the correction factors from the code. J. Dollard, co-chair, noted that the Correlating Committee was specifically asked to have an independent task group review this issue. He noted that a significant amount of substantiation was submitted with public input developed by the task group.

5 Autotransformer TG Chair Bill Drake proposed PIs to resolve conflicts between 210 and 450. These recommendations were rejected by the task group. As an alternative, a PI was developed to add an exception in 450. Cable Routing Assemblies TG Chair Jim Brunssen presented the final report of the task group. It was noted that the task group reviewed the installation requirements of cable routing assemblies throughout the Code and submitted Public Inputs as directed. Chapter 8 Reorganization TG Chair Jim Dollard reported that as noted in the task group s final report provided at the July 2013 Correlating Committee meeting, the task group did not believe that a total reorganization was necessary and, therefore, did not submit any PIs. Communication Raceways TG Chair Jim Brunssen reported that although the task group meet five times, the group could not come to consensus. As a result, no PIs were submitted. Damage Terms TG Chair Bill Drake reported that the task group could not agree on any language that would better define or differentiate the terms physical damage or severe physical damage. Consequently, the Task Group will not submit any PIs. DC Requirements TG Chair John Kovacik reported that the primary goal was to create draft articles that would be accepted by the CMPs. It was noted that Mike Johnston and Mark Earley attended a meeting in Washington to talk about DC requirements with another NEMA affiliated group working on DC and storage issues facing the industry. That group expressed their desire to align efforts with the Correlating Committee task group. As a result, non-nec members such as the IEE battery group, the IEC and countless manufacturing companies were invited to participate in the currently assigned DC task group. In all there were 78 participants. The task group developed drafts for three new articles on Energy storage, micro grids and DC micro grids. The task group also submitted inputs for 90.2 for other areas of the code. Equipotential Bonding TG Chair John Kovacik reported that there is in development from this TG at this time. John asked for other volunteers and requested a placeholder for this task group. GFCI Requirements TG Chair Merton Bunker reported that PIs were submitted. Alan Manche noted some issues will be worked out with the PIs but potential correlation issues may arise and provide the opportunity for this TG to become more formalized and provide recommendations to the Correlating Committee. Hazardous Locations Definition TG Chair Dick Owen noted that the task group reviewed the outstanding issue of definitions in Article 500. The Correlating Committee held a teleconference in which it recommended that Panel 14 develop a Public Input to correct definitions that are not in compliance with the NEC Style Manual.

6 High voltage TG Chair Neil LaBrake discussed the actions of Panels 1 and 8 during the 2014 cycle. These panels did not accept the proposed change of the 600 volts to 1000 volts that was accepted by the other panels. The task group included members from Panels 1 and 8. The TG submitted approximately 40 PIs to encourage correlation. MC Cables in HC facilities Chair Palmer Hickman noted the task group was populated with members of Panels 7 and 15. The task group did not receive consensus to develop PIs. NEC and NFPA 99 Correlation TG. Chair Neil LaBrake reported that essential equipment was a big topic of conversation. The task group is waiting to see what First Revisions the NFPA 99 committees make during the A2017 revision cycle. PPE Certification TG Chair Larry Ayer discussed 70E compliant clothing noting that there are over 30 ASTM standards referred to in NFPA 70E. A Global PI is being submitted for the next edition of NFPA 70E to delete references to all standards other than NFPAs unless they are provided to the committee or can be viewed online. It was noted that there is currently no testing done on finished garments; only samples of the fabric are tested. Procedures TG Chair Bill Drake noted that the group has not met in several cycles. The task group is looking at the new document revision process and will wait until the conclusion of this cycle before meeting to discuss possible changes to the Supplemental Operating Procedures. Structures, including RV Pedestals TG Chair Neil LaBrake reported that the group reviewed the definitions of Structure and Building and did research on the Panel 19 proposals and comments. The task group was divided up into 3 sub-task groups who produced five public inputs to , , , Article 100 Equipment, and Article 100 Structure. Item Panel Chair Reports All panel chairs in attendance gave a brief overview of recent panel activity, issues of note and issues they see coming back from last code cycle. Item Proposed New Articles Mark noted that this is going to be a Dynamic code cycle. There are PIs for nine new Articles. [Attachment] Item Correlating Committee Mentors Mark Earley stated that mentors have been appointed to be the go to for panel and task group chairs. These mentors, in addition to NFPA staff, are committed to providing assistance and guidance prior to and at the FD meetings. Item Review of Chair Training Agenda The Chair training agenda was reviewed and discussed. No new material was requested to be covered.

7 Item First Draft Panel Meetings Mark Earley noted that agendas containing a list of all PIs assigned to the panel and copies of the PIs will be issued as soon as possible after the closing date. Mark requested that panel chairs meet with TG chairs prior to their full panel meeting to ensure everything is in order. Item New Business Michael Wixted of NFPA provided a presentation on Robert s Rules. Item Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 4:40 pm.
