I wanted to thank Howard and Rob for each putting on a demonstration at the last meeting, wish I could have been there but I have Ski Patrol on Monday s during the winter months. 2 January 2017 Volume 24 Issue 1 MEETING MINUTES Page 2 by Murry Randell, Secretary December 19th, 2016 Meeting The December 19th, 2016 meeting of the Blue Max RC Flying Club was called to order at 7:01 pm by Vice President Howard Bifeld Welcome Guests Martin Schyns and Dave LeVee Welcome New Members Al Mostardo Around The Hangar President s Report Vice President Howard Bifeld: meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary Report Murry Randell: The minutes were accepted as published in the newsletter. Treasurer Report Jim Kaufman: stated club numbers Newsletter Report Bob Breckler: we are still looking for a Photographer, anyone looking to start a build post for the winter months is welcome to see me, send pictures Webmaster Report Doug Bradbury: No Report. Committee Reports: Winter Banquet OPEN The club is going to see about securing a room at the Continental Restaurant in Buffalo Grove, there will be more to come. Field Marshal Jim Kaufman: The right side of the safety fence was replaced by the Forest Preserve. The club will begin to get final pricing on the carpeting and new fencing Fun Fly Steve Gelman: Done for the year. Noise Shlomo Rimer: All Quiet, please make some noise Picnic Carl Will/Bob Breckler: Date for the Picnic was set for July 30th 2017, Bob Breckler has purchased the permit for the Pavilion from the Forest Preserve. Still looking for a third helper (no experience necessary) Proficiency Duane Lang: No advancements Program OPEN: Ideas from the membership are welcome. Some Ideas are 1. Programming for Spektrum (initial setup) Safety Don Linder: Do as much preparation before you go to the field for winter flying. Keep warm, be careful of the props especially with bulky clothing

The food pantry we are donating to is Our Lady of Ransom/St Vincent de Paul. Please bring your donations to our monthly meetings.

4 January 2017 Volume 24 Issue 1 Page 4 Show & Tell 1st Program: Howard Bifeld presented an introduction to Futaba s receiver S-Bus technology: The S-Bus technology uses digital serial data communication technology to transmit control signals between your receiver and all the servos. A single S.Bus cable can carry signals to as many channels as your transmitter can handle. You no longer have to worry about plugging in the wrong servo to the wrong channel, because each servo knows what channel it is dedicated to in advance, all servos are assigned a channel prior to installation. All servos can then be linked together with a single cable running throughout the plane, this allows for a wing with ailerons, flaps and retracts to be connected with one connection at the fuselage.

5 January 2017 Volume 24 Issue 1 Page 5 The second program for the meeting was Rob Getz with his newest Jet creation, it s the shockwave turbine jet by XXXXXXXXX, this is similar to the Ultra Bandit by BVM it s powered by a King Tech 210 turbine that creates 46 pounds of thrust at 120,000 rpm. It s 90 wing span, 9 servos mah Lipo batteries, carries 2 gallons of fuel which give about an 8min flight and air brakes the whole plane weighs in at 39# s at top end Rob s been told that this plane will travel at 210 to 220mph. NICE JOB ROB!
