AMA CHARTER 1040 GOLD LEADERSHIP CLUB WHEELS UP by Steve Gelman Welcome Back, Happy New Year Now that the holiday season has passed, I sure hope that Santa has left you some flying toys. This is a perfect time for winter projects as well. If any of you are like I am, I have a hard time figuring out what project to do next, such as repairs or assembling a new airplane that has been laying in the closet. Remember, the engine that ran poorly or didn t start last summer, will be the same when you bring that plane back out in the spring. If you plan on going out to the field on one of these warmer winter days, Winter Rules are in effect; this means that taxing in and out of the pits is allowed. Not only is it allowed, however, it is required when we have snow on the ground, to avoid pot holes from our boots and shoes. It is also recommended to fly a plane that will fit into your vehicle fully assembled and ready to go. Our Winter Banquet has been re-scheduled for Friday evening February 15 at the Continental Restaurant. Our next meeting is Monday January 21st at 7:00 PM. Current projects are welcome, so please bring your new plane as is, especially if you are stuck with something. I m sure that our members can give you some good suggestions or tips. Annual club dues are due, so please bring a check for Jim if you haven t paid already. Remember to renew your AMA Membership and FAA registration too. No Report Secretary Report Murry Randell: The minutes were accepted as published in the newsletter. Treasurer Report Jim Kaufman: Numbers were given Newsletter Report Bob Breckler: Thanks to all for their photos. Webmaster Report Doug Bradbury: No Report. 3 January 2019 Volume 26 Issue 1 Page 3 Old Business New Business There was discussion on how to best deal with the deteriorating pit covering, it was determined that we re going to need both the carpeting and the underlayment and may need to get some more crushed limestone. We are also looking for alternatives to the carpeting, it currently looks like replacement of the carpeting weill be in the range and if anyone has any ideas on different surface material please bring all Ideas to the next meeting. The runway will need to be recoated this summer along with restripping, will need some filler for some of the cracks in. Fuel purchase will depend on the number of members that are willing to buy bulk, we ll need to come up with an order of 12 cases in order to get the discount from Hobby Town. More will be discussed at the January s meeting. Crash Reports VERYYYYY quite out there, no crashes last month FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS We are collecting non-perishable foods for a local food pantry. The food pantry we are donating to is Our Lady of Ransom/St Vincent de Paul. Please bring your donations to our monthly meetings. Thanks to Carl Will for delivering the Food to the Pantry.
