Rob Getz and Don Linder were flying at the field a few weeks ago when we had a break in the weather. I happened to drop in on the Tri Village swap meet last week and was just amazed of all the stuff that was there to sell. Carl Will and Bob Breckler were selling some of their planes, and I found a beautiful Red Big Stik 60 for $ Don Linder has volunteered to be our new Fun-Fly Chairman. We are still looking to fill positions to run next year s Winter Banquet, Picnic, Ground Crew, and Programs committees, so please let me know if any of these positions interest you. The Winter Banquet is at the Continental Restaurant on Friday February 23 rd. Please register by Monday Feb 19 so we can provide the restaurant with an accurate headcount. (See page 16) Remember to renew your AMA and Blue Max club membership dues. Secretary Report Murry Randell: The minutes were accepted as published in the newsletter. Treasurer Report Jim Kaufman: stated club numbers Newsletter Report Bob Breckler: Thanks to all for their photos. Webmaster Report Doug Bradbury: No Report. 3 February 2018 Volume 25 Issue 2 Page 3 Old Business Steve Haas has worked a deal with the Continental Restaurant to hold the Winter Banquet, you should have received a copy of the reservation form in your at the beginning of the month and I ve included one below. Please if you plan on attending fill out the form New Business ALL REMEMBER, the FAA regulation is back on again and we are all required to have our number on our planes in a visible spot (it can t be hidden somewhere inside) if you did not request a refund on the initial 3 year purchase you should be good to go for another year. If you have not gotten your numbers it s probably a good Idea to get them as the Forest Preserve Police will more than likely be looking for them while monitoring the drones that fly at the field. Crash Reports Too Cold to Crash...or fly for that matter FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS We are collecting non-perishable foods for a local food pantry. The food pantry we are donating to is Our Lady of Ransom/St Vincent de Paul. Please bring your donations to our monthly meetings. Thanks to Carl Will for delivering the Food to the Pantry. 4 February 2018 Volume 25 Issue 2 Page 4 Show & Tell Rob Getz brought in two of his quick fly planes Extreme Flight MXS $279.00, Rob has about 30 flights on it right now and say s it flies great, nice Grab and Go plan to have when you don t want to drag out the big planes, it s also a good 3D trainer and recovers well from mistakes but is a little sensitive to the wind (due to light build). He s running a 5000mah 6s Lipo battery with 40 size electric motor and all Hitec 742 servos This one is a Twisted Hobbies MSX profile plane and can get 6 to 8 min flights on either a 2s or 3s battery and the small park flyer receiver, great indoor plane to work on your 3D stick maneuvers.

11 February 2018 Volume 25 Issue 2 Page 11 This plane has a 54" wingspan, and is running an OS 46 engine. One aileron standard Hitec servo with bell cranks for both ailerons. Standard Hitec servos for rudder, elevator and throttle. Futaba 2.4 GZ radio. Weight should be about 5 lb. 14 oz., when finished. (Specs for the plane are 5-6 Lbs, so I will just make it.) 5.2 oz of weight in tail to achieve proper CG. Really nice job Jim, another one to maiden this year, the yellow/black is a nice combo, should be easy to see.
