1 MINUTES BE IT remembered that on the 20th day of August 2018, at 9:00 A.M., the Board of Supervisors of Hinds County met in the Board of Supervisors Room, Jackson, Mississippi; pursuant to the provisions of Mississippi Code 1972, Annotated, Section and resolution heretofore adopted by the Board. Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee ELECTED OFFICIALS Board Attorney Teeuwissen and Mr. Kenny Lewis provided a report on inmates currently held at the various county facilities. Mr. Lewis further detailed the numbers, citing specifically the number of inmates held over 1 year. Document affixed hereto and incorporated herein. Supervisor Morgan stated his understanding of the cost per day per inmate is about $50.00, with 200 inmates being held over 1 year this equates to $3.6 million. Attorney Teeuwissen reviewed the purpose for the CJCC, as a result of the Federal Consent Decree. He noted two statistics, 50% of the accused in the jail have not been indicted and 22% of these remain unindicted for over 1 year. OTHER BUSINESS Association of South Jackson Neighborhoods / Willowood Community Center / Concerns Mr. Earnest Ward, ASJN President, thanked the Board for assisting with the grass cutting, the Interlocal Agreement with Jackson for the repair of bridges. He also asked about the opening of the Willowood Community Center. Mrs. Stephanie Foster asked about the repairs to Raymond Road Bridge. Finally she asked about the opening of the bridge on Mt. Moriah Road. Public Works Director stated the bridge should be opened next week. Page 2 of 17

WEIGHT LIMITED BRIDGES Request MDOT to Begin Writing Tickets for Violators Supervisor Morgan asked if the Bridge weight limits were advertise as required by law. He received an affirmative from the Chancery Clerk s office. He stated he would contact MDOT and request they begin writing tickets for weight limit violations on county bridges.
