Members Present: Tricia Pokorny, Adam Spencer, Doug Benton, Vera Zlataric, Brenda Agnew, Rosemary Minnella, Rachel Cloutier, Alex Warne, Tania Dowhaniuk, April Goodis, Jennifer Miller, Michael Bombardier. 2. Others Present: Amber LaPointe (Clerk), Judi Lytle (Accessibility Coordinator), Jamie Tellier (City Building Department), and Todd Evershed (City Building Department). 3. Regrets: Atif Rashid, Ron Baliko, Councillor John Taylor, and Alex Warne. 4. Declarations of Interest: None. 5. Approval of Minutes: 5.1 Approve minutes from the meeting held January 11, Delegation(s): Motion: Approve the minutes of the January 11, 2018 Burlington Accessibility Advisory Committee meeting, as amended CARRIED. 6.1 Pop-up patios - Todd Evershed and Jamie Tellier Todd Evershed and Jamie Tellier, Department of City Building, presented information on the City's pop-up patio program that runs in the downtown during the summer months. 1 1

4 7. Regular Items: Todd and Jamie answered questions regarding the program and asked for feedback from the committee. The committee suggested that accessible seating was needed for the patios and asked questions regarding the entrance to the patios. 7.1 Election of Chair and Vice-Chair On motion, Tricia Pokorny and Adam Spencer were elected as Chair and Vice Chair, respectively for a term ending December 31, Welcome New Member The committee welcomed Mike Bombardier to the committee. 7.3 Accessibility Coordinator's report Judi provided an update on accessibility within the City of Burlington. 7.4 AOD survey and focus group Judi thanked everyone that participated in the survey. Judi requested that anyone interested in participating in the focus group, who did not provide their information in the survey, to contact her. 7.5 Inclusive Events Checklist Amber will circulate the inclusive event checklist that has been developed by the Inclusivity Advisory Committee. 7.6 Burlington's Best - nominations due February 21 The committee discussed possible nominations for the accessibility awards at Burlington's Best. The committee was asked to encourage others to nominate people, and/or groups for the award. 7.7 Downtown parking garage - accessible parking Amber provided information from the transportation department regarding the Downtown parking garage. The Downtown Parking Committee requested comment from the committee regarding the placement of accessible parking spots in the parking garage. The committee discussed the movement of accessible parking spaces and had concerns with putting them on higher floors. Adam will provide a response to the transportation department on behalf of the committee workplan discussion 2 2

5 The committee reviewed their draft workplan for 2018 and selected priorities for the year. The committee selected people to lead events and will establish subcommittees at the March meeting. The committee decided on the following priority events: - Respect the space - parking campaign - Access Now map-a-thon (May) - Danceable (Dec.) - Guide dog lunch and learn - Various public education events throughout the year 7.9 Committee Liaison/Sub-Committee Activities a. Inspire AccessAbility Showcase (formerly Halton Community Resource Fair) - April 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Rosemary provided information regarding the Halton Community Services Database. This database is on the library website and provides contact information for generally non-for-profit accessible resources in Halton. Rosemary asked that committee members with information on a good resource to provide the information to her and she will ensure it is added to the database. 9.
