Action Items from February Meeting The action items from the February meeting were reviewed: Page 1 of 7

2 A letter was sent to the CNV Mayor and Council requesting consideration of appointing a permanent Councillor to the Committee. As the CNV staff liaison was absent from the meeting, this item was not addressed. Action: This item will be brought to the May meeting. North Shore Emergency Management are undergoing some organizational changes and it may be best to request a presentation for the fall. Action: Suzy and Stina to contact the organization for a possible presentation to the Committee in the fall Action: Suzy and Stina to request a presentation targeted to emergency management for people with disabilities rather than their general presentation. Guest speaker from Seniors Centre are available for a presentation in June or September. Action: Stina to follow up with the Seniors Centre Community Living BC follow up is required with Kathleen whether she contacted Ann for a possible presentation in June. Action: Kathleen to follow up with Ann A former member of ACDI previously participated on the Advisory Design Panel and there was discussion on whether someone from the Committee would be willing to apply for a position on the Design Panel. Action: Suzy will check whether the volunteer for the Advisory Design Panel is required to be a resident from the DNV. Recruitment The DNV made a post on social media calling out for volunteers to serve on ACDI and the new CNV staff liaison will be requested to look into a post from the CNV. Page 2 of 7

3 4.2. Recruitment By way of an electronic vote, the ACDI recommended appointment of Tom Crawford to the Committee. The recommendation for appointment will be going to the Advisory Oversight Committee and then to Council for approval. were informed that registrations are underway for the West Vancouver Community Day on June 3 rd. were requested to indicate if there was interest for ACDI representation at the Community Day. On discussion, members indicated that it may be beneficial in terms of potential recruitment to have an information table. Action: Stina will book a table for the ACDI, and follow up with an on logistics for the day Snow Removal Letter reviewed a proposed letter to Council requesting that the North Shore municipalities work on a strategy to better combat severe weather conditions when they occur and make streets and sidewalks universally accessible. MOVED BY Kamelia and seconded by Gardiner To approve the letter to Council as amended. 5. Sub-Committees 5.1. 4 Park & Recreation Accessibility & Audit Municipal staff and Parks Departments bring designs and other initiatives forward to the subcommittee for review and audit from accessibility perspective. A physical site visit is done annually. Meetings are centred on the Access Awareness Event in June. The main responsibility of the subcommittee is to discuss and organize each year s event, coordinate with committee members and to attend the event in June. also organize the Christmas Party. 5 Publications This subcommittee meets once or twice per year and focusses on publications and pamphlets and whether these need to be updated or require a new publication. Committee brochures/pamphlets are circulated at various venues, including Municipal Halls, information kiosks and at the West Vancouver Seniors Centre. Accessibility Issues in Front of Council 6.1. City of North Vancouver A report was not presented District of North Vancouver Page 5 of 7

6 No issues specific to accessibility District of West Vancouver Work continues on the OCP, which will be brought to ACDI possibly in June. 7. Subcommittee Reports 7.1. Parks & Recreation Accessibility & Audit Subcommittee West Vancouver Public Library reviewed and discussed the West Vancouver Public Library Report as submitted by the Parks & Recreation Accessibility & Audit Subcommittee. MOVED BY Kamelia and seconded by Lisa ACDI appreciates be invited to review the Exterior Access Ramp Project at the West Vancouver Memorial Library and is in support of the design with the additional recommendation outlined in the Parks and Recreation Subcommittee Report dated April 27, 2017 to further increase accessibility. 7.2 Transportation & Mobility Pedestrian Plan A verbal report was provided to the Committee on the City of North Vancouver Pedestrian Plan. In developing the Plan, there was a public process for feedback which included a walkabout, survey, and conversations with the public. There will be more engagement with the community in the summer, and a further opportunity for ACDI involvement. 8. New Business 8.1. Transportation Consultation Committee Update No update was provided Access Awareness Event Begin Discussion Page 6 of 7

7 The Access Awareness & Events Subcommittee was requested to convene and begin discussion on this year s event. Action: Stina to initiate a meeting of the subcommittee Delbrook Recreation Centre Visit June 1 st 3:30 5:00pm The ACDI was invited to visit the new Delbrook Recreation Centre on Thursday, June 1 st, 3:30 5:00 pm. A notice will be sent to the entire committee, closer to the visit date. 9. Other Business and Correspondence No other business or correspondence was presented. 10.
