Have you used just one, to say thank you? With this thought, how many of you can give a few seconds daily to your association? We need help! I need someone who understands basic construction, and can deal with contractors for upcoming jobs for your association. We re going forward with bids to repair / repave Via Princessa this year. We also are getting bids for concrete work for clubhouse ongoing jobs. We also need someone to oversee the Umbrella Committee, to represent Spring Knolls Association. For anyone unfamiliar with our Bargain Festival, it s a huge rummage sale. The items sold are donated by our community. So, do your Spring Cleaning NOW and contribute your give-aways to our sale. Two jobs turns out to be too much. Should you encounter any suspicious persons and/or suspicious activity. DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL THE NON-EMERGENCY POLICE PHONE NUMBER COPS (2677) Our new board member, Bill Desmond, recommended the National Do Not Call Registry for those who are tired of all those unwanted calls, at all hours of the day and night. You can accomplish this by going on-line to donotcall.gov Or, you can register by phone, It s a very quick and easy process. Watch Out for Scammers!!! Jim Feryan, reported at the January Board meeting, that there is a phone scam involving international calls from what appears to be local callers. The Federal Communications Commission says, If your phone rings once and then stops, think twice before returning the call. It may be a scam. The area codes for these calls appear to be U.S. area codes when in reality they are threedigit international area codes. If you return the call you will be charged an international call rate and risk sharing identity information. Also, watch for Caller ID Spoofing, which is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity. Spoofing is often used as part of an attempt to trick someone into giving away valuable personal information which is then used for fraudulent activities or sold illegally. You may not be able to tell right away if a call is spoofed so be very careful about responding to any request for personal information. 6 Page 6 Book a trip to your Spring Knolls Library Many people attending the Jan. 13 annual meeting took advantage of a FREE book giveaway and took home dozens of best sellers. That s good news. Even better news is that there are still hundreds of other giveaway books awaiting your perusal. Find ones you like, and take them to KEEP. We re trying to make room for donations of new books to borrow that were published in 2000 or later. All library books Mystery, Western, General fiction, Romance are colorcoded and alphabetized by author. President continued from page 1 of the 2017 Board of Directors. Everyone worked very hard all year to improve our community and provide a solid foundation for the 2018 Board to build on. A very special thanks to Jim Feryan and Jim Witt for their many years of service to our community. Both are retiring from the Board although they both have indicated that they re always available for questions and consultation. Thanks guys! Also, many thanks to John Bourman, who also retired from the Board. John s many contributions regarding Code Enforcement have gone a long way to improve the appearance and quality of our community.
