2 Scourie Website Keen eyed observers (41 of you!) will have noticed the new Notice Board page in the information section of the web site. I ve set this up to post details of upcoming events. It currently has posters for the Anchorage Winter opening hours, Firework and Bonfire posters, a family seeking a croft, and a WSFT fishing restriction poster. Posters can be downloaded as a PDF to be viewed larger. But there are many more events that can be posted, Hall and Gala committee AGM s, Halloween Dance, School Xmas Fayre, Christmas Dance, Burns Super But I can t publish them if I don t get them.. Some statistics on the last months views to the web pages. There were 722 site visits, and 2131 pages were viewed, an average of nearly 3 pages per visit. 415 visits were made from a desktop computer, 123 from Tablets, and 184 from Mobile phones. There has been a pop-up message to all visitors to the site, advertising the Church of Scotland s Friday night meetings, which was viewed 157 times. The ten most viewed pages were: 1. The Home page (760 views). 2. Self catering Cottages (112). 3 Notice Board (77). 4. Information (70). 5. Accommodation (70). 6. Scourie News (65). 7. Bed & Breakfasts (58). 8. Brief History (54). 9. Scourie Shop (53). 10. Scourie Diary (53). Browsers to the site still seem to be researching where to stay. Visitors came to the site from Google (453), directly (151), Bing (37), Yahoo (19), the remaining 62 came from links from other web sites. Visits to the site remain mainly from the UK (531), other countries being USA (63), Germany (16), Canada (16), France (15), Spain (13), and Unknown, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Australia with 10 visits each. Other countries include Belgium, Norway, Italy, Ireland, Austria, Russia, Thailand, Macedonia, Morocco, Israel, Croatia, Guernsey, China and Bulgaria. Hall News The village hall committee had their AGM last Tuesday. There was a disappointing turnout, with only 8 current committee members turning up (plus our independent chairman for the voting). The new committee is as follows: Chair - Iona Shaw, Secretary - Pippa Edwards, Treasurer - Les Hathaway, Vice chair - Pete Tuck, Committee members - Dorothy Harper, Allan Cunningham, Jean Mackay and Donald Fisher. The hall committee would welcome more new members, if you are interested please get in touch with any of the committee. If committees aren't your cup of tea we would also welcome volunteers to help with events such as dances, and the Burn's supper. The present committee is really stretched and we could do with some extra help. We still have a considerable amount of money to raise towards the rewiring, and we would like to make the library cosier and more welcoming. VOTE FOR ASSYNT LEISURE! 3 Scourie Gala Would you like to be involved in next year s gala events? Have you ideas for a suitable date or activities? Come along to our next meeting and have your opinion heard! NEXT MEETING MONDAY 7 th 8PM (AGM followed by normal meeting) Christmas Greetings Yes, it is that time of year again! The form for entries into this year s Scourie News Christmas Greetings edition is attached. In previous years, this has raised a great amount of money for Cancer Research, MacMillan Cancer Care and The Highland Hospice, all charities close to the heart of the village. This year, there is an option to nominate a charity for the collection to go to. This could be a local or national charity. All money raised will go to the charity with most nominations. Fèis an Iar Thuath AGM The AGM of Fėis an Iar Thuath will be held on Tuesday 8th November in Unapool house at 7pm. Please come along if you are interested in the Fèis going ahead this year or contact Sheilah Cunningham at any time. tel The Anchorage would like to thank all who attended the Halloween party. 4 Camera Club The camera club has started meeting again for the winter season and will be holding fortnightly meetings alternating in Scourie and KLB. The calendar is being edited now, and should be available to purchase by the end of November. All those who attended would like to sincerely thank Laura & Kip for their hard work in putting on a superb Hallowe en party for young & old. All who attended had a great time! October Weather October has been really dry! For the second year running! There were 19 days without rain, and we had 52.5 mm (59.8 mm) in total. A third of this fell on the 18 th with 18 mm. The average for the last 20 years is 147 mm. Temperatures have been slightly down, with an average maximum of 11.8 deg C (12 deg C).The warmest day was 6 th with 16 deg C. The average minimum was 7.3 deg C (7.6 deg C), and a low of 4 deg C on 23 rd (this gave a sharp frost at sea level on the croft). The solar panels have produced 160 kw, and average of 5.17 kw (4.0kW) with a high of 10.8 kw on 3 rd. (last year s figures in brackets).
