7 Sport Court BRINNON CRIER November 2014 The Quilcene Sport Court Fund, a non-profit association incorporated in the State of Washington with the purpose of resurfacing the tennis court and basketball court at Quilcene Community Park, is still seeking donations. The Fund has over $3,000 collected so far. Stop by and donate to Quilcene Sport Court Fund if you want to help restore one of Quilcene s fundamental community assets. The sport court, along with campground and community center bring in people to enjoy the downtown and its services and provides healthful recreation, free for all ages. Local businesses benefit as well from shopping and food sales. The campground has had another very successful year with $3,228 in revenues from camping this year, which follows a 50% increase every year for the last three years since it was reopened. We have a new slide ordered to replace the broken one at the playground and that will be installed with a small dedication ceremony and party for the children in the very near future. Recently the Garden Club has helped restore lawn and landscaping adjacent to the Community Center and Playground. The Garden Club has also replaced dying trees in the community center borders. Thanks to all who have been supportive of the resurface project and don t forget, you can have your name on the donor board right on the sport court fence. Clayton White, Quilcene Camp Host and Adopt-a-Park Volunteer, President Quilcene Sport Court Fund. 8 BRINNON CRIER November 2014 Food Bank News Hi all, Experience the best of the Northwest! Go back in time, while enjoying all our modern luxuries. Elk Meadows B&B and Farm is surrounded by top-quality local recreation: Great hiking, kayaking, cycling, boating, fishing, local attractions, famous seafood, and amazing wildlife and birds. Joe and Joy Baisch, Proprietors 3485 Dosewllips road Currently, we pick up at Trader Joe's in Silverdale on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. I received a call from the manager of Central Kitsap Food Bank saying that we have an opportunity to pick up on all Saturdays if we want to do that. To those who already go they can tell you that it fills a pickup truck. It takes two people to do the job and can be a good workout. That being said, it is a bountiful amount of quality food. I am looking for volunteers who might like to try it. Windermere Hood Canal Quality When someone needs a Saturday off, we can always find someone to fill in for them. One Saturday a month is a four hour commitment. The time frame is 10:00 am at the store and back to the food bank by 12:00. Valerie Schindler Owner/Broker Integrity Service For all your real estate needs. Our drivers already cover many miles, clocking over 2800 miles last month. I don't want you to think that I am twisting arms because if this doesn't work out, that's just the way it is. 31 Brinnon Lane Brinnon, Washington Business Toll Free The Central Kitsap Food Bank picks up 5 days a week there and they don't have enough drivers for the weekends. If you are willing to help out or would like additional information on this worthwhile cause, please give Mike or Eloise a call at
