With our new members I am hoping that we can get 8 more volunteers to run a route on either Tuesdays or Wednesdays. It requires about one to one and one half hours of your time once every four weeks, delivering meals to about 12 elderly or disabled West Sacramento residents. You would be working with a partner, so grab a Rotary friend and let me know that you are willing to both help out. When we get 8 volunteers I will meet with you and we will organize our new group. Thanks for considering this way to provide Service Above Self. **Notes Non Rotarian Volunteer Mondays: Route 1 3/27 Tim Carnahan and Luan Christ Mondays: Route 5 3/20 Paul Kolarik 3/27 Dick Marshall and Troy Bird 4/3 Jeanne and Mike Wednesdays: Route 5 3/15 Carol Bogart and Marty Garozzo 3/22 Gina Borges and Jim Cahill 3/29 Jeff Post and Kent Ramos 4/5 Lyle Bassett and Bob Ceccato Thursdays: Route 1 3/16 Tom Wallace and Tissy Simmons 3/23 Steve Heringer and Robb White** 3/30 Ken Ruzich 4/6 John Raney Thursdays: Route 2 3/16 Leonor Dicdican and Barry Kalar 3/23 Ron Morazzini and Len Thomas 3/30 Jon Rearman 4/6 Mike Campbell and Dan Ramos Thursdays: Route 5 3/30 Mark Engstrom 4/6 Shaun Morrow Your Newsletter Crew Editor: Amanda Bailey amanda.bevier.bailey@gmail.com Photos By: David Kamminga davidkamminga@frontiernet.net Submitted by Tom Wallace Rotary Up!!! 4 Future Rotarians The Club is Currently looking for someone to host an exchange student for June and July. Contact Steve Oren if interested. Chunks from the Buzzsaw River City High School Interact Club News Mr. Steve-O announced that the club will be hosting Ellen from Germany next year. RCHS Interact Club Volunteering at the Shamrock Run FUTURE ROTARIAN Lauren Dela Rosa My name is Lauren Dela Rosa. I am currently not on the board and none of my siblings have been, but I hope to join it next year. I ve been in Interact since my freshman year, so about a year and a half. I joined because all of my friends, most of whom are older than me, told me so many great things about the club. They always talked to me about how much fun they had at events and I wanted an opportunity to be a part of that. When I joined, I learned that there was so much more to what I thought Interacy was about. Interact has shown me how to help people. My goal as a member if this club is to become a more active member in the betterment of my community. I want to be able to help those who need it, rather than just expressing my empathy towards them, My current plan is to attend a UC, preferable Berkeley, as a mathematics major and as a minor in computer programming. I will then earn my teaching degree and become a middle school math teacher. Interact has shown me that others are not as fortunate as I am, and that I am capable of making a difference in their lives. It has inspired me to want to be the change in the world, and to always work for a better tomorrow. Rotary Up!!! Page 4

7 Bad Stuff Can Happen in Bed YOUR LINKS TO ROTARY Bed-ridden people need to change position periodically to avoid bedsores, especially if their mattresses are soft. If patients don't move, they can develop pressure ulcers that can actually be fatal. Wow, beds are more dangerous than we knew... A shortage of health care workers in Hungary resulted in bedsores becoming a serious problem. So, the Rotary Club of Sun City West, Arizona, joined Hungarian Clubs from Miskolc-Tapolca and Szekszárd to provide special mattresses that support body weight evenly. Nearly 1,000 Hungarians in seven medical centers have benefitted.
