1 340 (MINUTES) REGULAR MEETING Burgin, Ky., August 9, 2017 The Burgin Board of Education met at the school library at 7:00 p.m. for the regular board meeting on the 9 th of August, 2017, with the following members present: 1) Bob Clark 2) Donna Major 3) Benjamin Bradshaw 4) Keith Monson 5) Priscilla Harris 1. Mission/Vision Reading: The mission and vision statements were read by Benjamin Bradshaw. 2. Minutes: Upon the recommendation of the superintendent a motion was made by Priscilla Harris and seconded by Benjamin Bradshaw to approve the July 12th, 2017 minutes. 3. 4 343 Kristi Brummett cafeteria monitor 5. Superintendent s Report: Superintendent Begley notified the Board of the following: a. Mike Sanford, manager of the Lake Village Water District, received the monthly YES award as the team member of the month b. Abby Piper of Piper Public Relations gave an update on the school branding project c. KSBA provided a presentation on their emeeting service 6. Academic Report: Principal LeMonds notified the Board of the following: a. School has begun and it started out really well b. Burgin s Energy and Power Program students scored highest in the country c. Discussion of the new student contract policy for improving student success d. Update on building improvements e. New online store 7. MOA with Piper PR Firm: Upon the recommendation of the superintendent, a motion was made by Priscilla Harris and seconded by Benjamin Bradshaw to approve the MOA with Piper PR Firm. 8. KSBA emeeting: Upon the recommendation of the superintendent, a motion was made by Keith Monson and seconded by Donna Major to approve the KSBA emeeting service contract. 9. Employee Social Media Policy, 1 st Reading: Upon the recommendation of the superintendent, a motion was made by Priscilla Harris and seconded by Benjamin Bradshaw to approve the first reading of the employee social media policy. 10. Board Secretary: Upon the recommendation of the superintendent, a motion was made by Benjamin Bradshaw and seconded by Keith Monson to appoint Kate Sizemore as board secretary. 11. Tax Rate Proposal: Upon the recommendation of the superintendent, a motion was made by Keith Monson and seconded by Donna Major to propose 69.5% as the 2017 tax rate.

Tax Rate Hearing Set: Upon the recommendation of the superintendent, a motion was made by Benjamin Bradshaw and seconded by Donna Major to confirm the public tax rate hearing date for Wednesday, September 13 th, 6: Consent Agenda: Upon the recommendation of the superintendent a motion was made by Donna Major and seconded by Priscilla Harris to approve the consent agenda. A. Approval of school handbook, school fees, discipline code B. Approval of Burgin Organizational Chart, used for evaluation of employees C. Approval of MOA with BCTC D. Approval of coaches for fall/winter E. Approval of extra assignments salary schedule F. Approval of annual data security awareness notification G. Approval of shortened day for student due to ARC 14. Closed Session: Upon the recommendation of the superintendent a motion was made by Keith Monson and seconded by Benjamin Bradshaw to go into executive session in accordance with KRS , Section Open Session: Upon the recommendation of the superintendent a motion was made by Priscilla Harris and seconded by Benjamin Bradshaw to return to open session. 16. Adjournment: Upon the recommendation of the superintendent a motion was made by Priscilla Harris and seconded by Donna Major to adjourn the meeting. Chairman Secretary
