43 17 January At1Bt. I BUDGET INFORMATION Submission re Burial of Power lines along Argyle. Our Ambleside Waterfront Park is much loved by WestVancouverites the beautification of which is much wanted by all. (7) One of the steps which could be taken to make the Park more beautiful would be the burial of the power lines which run along or beside Argyle. An estimate of the cost of burial should be sought from Hydro as a first step. The greatest problem may be funding the burial. But a number of sources should be approached and they include: 1. Hydro which annually has been in the habit of making sums of money available for doing things which are of civic advantage. Hydro could be approached by our Municipality to seek a donation by way of shouldering a part of the burial cost; 2. Grosvenor paid a substantal sum of money in connection with authority to construct the two buildings between Marine Drive and Bellevue and 13 th and 14 th Streets. I understand some part of that money was used to construct the new Police building but some of that money was left over. This money could be used toward burial of the power lines; 3. Application to the Federal Government for money to achieve a municipal improvement through our former Mayor Pamela Goldsmith-Jones; 4. Application to the Provincial Government for the same purpose; 5. Donations from owners of property along Bellevue. Such donations had been proposed in a plan to bury the power lines some years ago and forming a part of a scheme of burial which I discussed with Colette Parsons
