Unfortunately I was unable to make our October lunch and learn, from what I have heard we had a great turnout and a great presentation, I can t say enough for the support we get from our manufacture s reps. Thanks again to our sponsor and to Gary Borgmann for filling in for me. This month looks to be a great seminar as well; Rick Meyer and Steve Hullett with PM Associates will be bringing in a speaker from Zoeller to go over sewage ejector sizing. It s been a while since we ve covered this topic, it will be a great educational seminar for designers of all experience levels. Keep in mind we will not have a December seminar do to the Holidays; this will be your last opportunity this year to collect educational hours towards your recertification. 3 Tech News Now: Last month s seminar was very informative on flameless adhesive joining method. Thank you to all those that attended last month. This month s seminar Sizing and Selecting Sewage Ejectors will feature speaker Scott Sweeney, with Zoeller Pump Company. Scott will give us a back-to-the-basics presentation of sewage ejectors. P-M Associates will sponsor this luncheon as well. Our Central Indiana ASPE chapter is very fortunate to have great Affiliate membership and Reps that step up and provide sponsorships for our events. A big thank you goes out to P-M Associates and all our sponsors for their support. As a reminder, we do not have a December meeting. Speaker Bio... Scott Sweeney Scott Sweeney has been employed in the plumbing industry for 11 years. For the last 2 ½ years he has held the position of National Sales Manager for Zoeller Pump Company. Scott has previously held positions as a Regional Sales Manager and Applications Technician, where he worked daily designing and troubleshooting pump and pump systems. Prior to entering the plumbing industry and joining the Zoeller Co. He was involved in the field of electronics. Scott has a BA in Business Admin. from Sullivan College in Louisville, KY. 10 The Legislative Edge When I took the position of VP Legislative, I had all these lofty plans to collect and report on newsworthy code issues, but the last few months have been unbelievably busy for me. Therefore, I haven t been accomplishing my goals. Thankfully, it looks like my schedule will be lightening up a bit in the months to come. We had a very interesting seminar last month on flameless adhesive copper joint fittings. Like the press fitting system, it utilizes an O -ring type seal, but instead of crimping to hold the piping together, it uses an adhesive. It appears to be as reliable as the press type method. This month P-M & Associates will sponsor Sewage Ejector Sizing. Scott Sweeney with Zoeller Pump Company will be our presenter. Look for details elsewhere in this issue. I hope everyone will appreciate and utilize our newest feature. Well, it s not so new. We ve been video recording our technical seminars for about a year now. We ve made some big improvements lately though. We now have wireless lapel mikes for the speaker so you can hear them better. Unfortunately you can t hear any questions from the audience. That would require another microphone or two. When we can, we will also obtain the presenter s PowerPoint and make it available too. David Townsend has been very instrumental in making this happen. I would also like to take this time to remind everyone that we still have some of our plumbing designer brothers still out of work, so if you hear of anyone needing a designer or draftsman, even if it s just short term or on contract, please let me know.
