2 From the President: I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday, I for one enjoyed a few much needed days off. It looks as though old man winter has settled in here in the Midwest with temps at or below zero at night. It is after all January. I am fortunate to have an exterior wood fired boiler that I heat my home with, with several nights below zero wind chills it was nice to hear the furnace kicking on repeatedly knowing I m not paying a gas bill. For those of you interested in taking the CPD exam, now is the time to get registered. Registration will close on March 19 th, information on registration and exam requirements can be found on the ASPE website. Stacey Kidd at ASPE is overseeing the registration process; if you run into problems please feel free to contact her or myself. Chapter member Gary Mohr has offered to teach a CPD review class, this would typically be (4) Saturday sessions leading up to the exam. We will have registration information available in next month s newsletter. If you are interested in the review class send me an so we can get a feel for interest and get you the information ahead of time. It s time to start thinking about golf; the golf outing committee will be meeting later this month to start planning this year s event. Our goal this year is to expand the event, possibly adding some higher profile prizes for the skills contest that everyone will enjoy, I think you re going to like it. We have had a request to look at some other locations for future outings, this year s event will be at Ironwood as in the past. The golf committee will research options for the 2011 outing after this year s event. I will have to say that a change of venue will be tough, we have had excellent luck with Ironwood and their staff. I look forward to seeing everyone at this month s meeting. Jim Rodgers, CPD President, C.I. Chapter of ASPE Page 2

Legend Valve is a leading provider of valves, fittings, and related products for residential, commercial and industrial use, Founded in 1988 in Detroit, Michigan, Legend Valve s mission is to set a new standard of service in the industry. Legend developed the concept of downstream thinking, which ensures that all partners in their supply chain understand and commit to doing it right the first time, every time. It is critical to perform consistently above the level that is required of you if you ever expect to be able to exceed your customer s expectations, said David Hickman, Legend s President and CEO. At Legend Valve, downstream thinking has become our culture to the point where we can guarantee performance and service to all partners in our supply channel. Managing the timely receipt of needed products has never been more challenging for the contractor than it is today. Our commitment to shipping in 24 hours, 100% fill rates, and 100% transaction accuracy ensures that the contractor gets what he wants, when he wants it. Legend s corporate culture is inspired and led by Hickman, a former Marine who has been involved in the plumbing/ commercial market his entire business career.
