3 VP Legislative Bill Deardurff Here are a few highlights from the ASPE PIPELINE: Don't miss your chance to become a CPD this year ASPE's Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) program recognizes highly skilled plumbing engineers with advanced knowledge and experience in the industry. To join this esteemed group of professionals, register for this year's exam at aspe.org/cpdexam by next Friday, March 11. The exam is being held at testing sites across the country on March 31 and April 1. To help you prepare for the exam, ASPE is offering the CPD Review Webinar Series, which you can view at your leisure after purchasing. Help us help you: feedback on ASPE webinars is requested Have you participated in an ASPE webinar lately? If so, please let us know about your experience by taking the brief survey at surveymonkey.com/r/y5bfy2d. Public restrooms fail to impress Nearly 70 percent of respondents to Bradley Corp.'s 2016 Healthy Hand Washing Survey reported a particularly unpleasant experience in a public restroom, and a majority takes measures to avoid hand contact with public restroom surfaces. State-by-state evaluation of building codes is published The National Building Code Assessment Report grades building codes and their enforcement, based on model code adoption, staff training, plan review, and field inspections, for 20,800 communities representing 87 percent of the U.S. population. EPA releases an online drinking water mapping tool The Drinking Water Mapping Application to Protect Source Waters tool allows users to see if sources of their drinking water are polluted and offers ways to help protect watersheds in their communities. 5 VP Membership Jason Plageman We are still working on our goal of 100 members before the October convention. We see many attendees at the monthly technical meetings who are not active members. Please help us reach out to these individuals and bring them aboard. Also don t forget any new member has three months to join and still be eligible for entry into the 2016 convention fee raffle. Lastly on behalf of the Central Ohio Chapter I would like to welcome our newest member Matt Scott. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events. Jason Plageman Vice President Membership (Continued from page 1) 2018 ASPE Board of Directors applications are being accepted thru May 31, Go to log in and go to the members only section to find the application packet. The next biennial Convention and Exposition will be held in Phoenix, AZ on October 28 November 2. Start now arranging your schedule to be able to attend. Some Local Chapter news: We are considering having a sporting clays shoot at Blackwing in October. The outing would be an all-day event which would include lunch, shooting the course in the afternoon and some side games. The Board would like to get your feedback to find out if this is something that the members would be interested in attending and if the manufacturer s representatives would be interested in sponsoring. Please your feedback to any of the Board members. Mark Simpson Chapter President 5

7 Region 2 Affiliate Liaison - Dann Holmes relationships with our regulatory officials. Next month, I will travel to Evansville to take part in the ASPE-JATC trade show at the UA Local 136 training center. The following day, I will give a presentation to our Evansville ASPE members. Region 2 Affiliate Report Ah yes, the days are getting longer and the weather is letting us know spring is just around the corner. Of course, Mother Nature will always get the last laugh. How many of you are aware of The State of The Society video presentation by Mitch Clemente? It was released on February 19 on the ASPE Facebook page. The video is slightly over 30 minutes long and contains valuable information. I believe it would be a nice addition to your local chapter board meetings. Ask one of your board members about it. Here is a YouTube link to the video. Keep an eye here for exciting news in the near future as well in upcoming ASPE press releases. Things are moving in the right direction for all of us. I cannot wait to tell you more about them. Now, take some time and clean up the golf clubs and fishing rods. You are going to need them very soon. Regards, You can reach me at: Dann Holmes ASPE Region 2 Affiliate Liaison NSF International Business Development Manager r2al@aspe.org or (734) After the first round of the ASPE Chapter Membership Tournament, we still have a few chapters in the running to become overall champions! Toronto, Buffalo-Niagara, and Rochester chapters are doing well and made it to round two. Unfortunately, we have two Region 2 chapters competing against each other, Eastern Michigan and Philadelphia and that can never end well. Central Ohio, Cleveland, Southwestern Ohio, Central Indiana, Evansville, Johnstown, Rochester, and Western Michigan all have a chance in the constellation round. Keep us the great work and build your memberships. I am happy to report I was able to attend the Ohio Association of Plumbing Inspector (OAPI) conference in Dublin. It is a nice way to build 7
