1 January 20, 2017 The Tudor Hall 4-H Club held the January meeting at the St. Mary s County Fairgrounds. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 on January 20 th, The minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted as read. Treasurer s report was read and accepted as read. The demonstrations/illustrated talks given were by: Sarah Beale-Cuts of pork, Lily Arnold- clipping rabbits nails, and Ethan Beale- Butchering Hogs. Under Old Business we discussed the officers training, that we hosted, Beef weigh-in, Winter STEM camp (Trent Vallandingham attended) and the Maryland State council (Sophie Anderson was accepted as a member). Under New business we discussed the leaders meeting, volunteer hours, cattle and swine RFID tags need to be purchased from a USDA/ADHIS approved vendor for all cattle and pigs that will be shown this year, and the 2017 horse world expo which was on Jan. 20, 21, & 22. The meeting adjourned at 8:00. The after-meeting activities were making Valentines for the Wildewood Retirement Home residents. Next meeting is on Feb. 17 at the St. Mary s Fairgrounds.
2 February 17, 2017 Submitted By: Patricia Krohn Planning 10, MCE volunteer hours 134, Non-MCE volunteer hours - 96 The February meeting of the Tudor Hall 4-H Club was called to order at 7:08pm on February 17, The minutes of the last meeting were read by Patricia Krohn and accepted as read. Treasurer s report was read and accepted as read. Roll call question was, what is your favorite school subject? The demonstrations/illustrated talks given were: Riley Baile - Goat feed and Patricia Krohn- how to tattoo rabbits. Under Old Business we discussed RFID tags, voted on the gift for the friend of 4-H, 4-H healthy living, livestock knowledge and world horse expo. We also discussed the Valentine s day gifts given to the Wildewood retirement home and the Joe Corbi s fundraiser. Under New business we discussed volunteer hours, paying for your own ticket for the 4-H banquet, printing record book forms, the county archery team. Also the 2017 Dairy bowl contest on Saturday, April 22 nd.the state 4-H communications contest. The horse power hour every Monday from 6-8. We collected non-perishable food for Helping Hands and made ear rings and travel tic-tac-toe games. The meeting adjourned at 8:34pm. Next meeting on March 17 at 6:30pm at the Fairgrounds.
3 March 17, 2017 Before our meeting, we hosted a countywide event where Dr. Radenbaugh, MD State Vet, came and spoke to everyone about Biosecurity. Our club also planted seeds in recycled eggs cartons. Once the seeds sprout we can transfer them outside. The March meeting of the Tudor Hall 4-H Club was called to order at 7:57pm on March 17, The Treasurer s report was read by Mia Young and accepted as read. Roll call question was, What is your favorite 4-H project? There was an illustrated talk given was: Mia Young- Caring for kids/ baby goats. Under Old Business we discussed the Banquet/ banquet committees. We plan to do a service learning project at the banquet by selling the pansy centerpieces and donating the money to the Scully family. Nolan Scully, a 4 year old from Leonardtown, passed away from a rare form of cancer earlier this year. We also discussed market tags order forms (pigs, goats & sheep) were due by Feb. 3 rd, Healthy Living Summit was held on Feb , 2017, Public Speaking Workshop, and the Glass Blowing trip on March 25 th, at the McFadden Art Glass Studio in Baltimore. The MD 4-H Livestock Skillathon was held on March 4 th in Hagerstown, MD, we had 7 members (Hannah Wathen, Savannah Bell-Bussler, Sophie Anderson, Lilly Arnold, Emily Gale, Trent Vallandingham, and Ricky Arnold) from our club participate. The Miss St. Mary s County Farm Bureau contest was held on Mar. 11 th. Three members from our club participated and were awarded the following titles: Miss St. Mary s County Farm Bureau Rachael Riche, Junior Miss St. Mary s County Farm Bureau Sara Van Ryswick and Little Miss St. Mary s County Farm Bureau Emily Gale. Congratulations!! Under New business we discussed the volunteer hours, sheep & goat workshop on April 7 th, & 8 the Caroline County 4-H and youth park, Robotics workshop on April 1 st, RFID tags for pigs and cows, leaders meeting, junior sheep & goat the sheep and wool festival in May at the Howard County fairgrounds, and the Tractor Supply event that is poultry themed on Sat. April 8 th from 10-12am we plan on doing a bake sale, and bring live chickens to share with the community. The meeting adjourned at 8:38. Next meeting will be on April 21 st, 2017 at 6:30pm at the St. Mary s County Fairgrounds.

Under New business we discussed the payment for your own tickets for the 4H banquet, print out your record book form and the Maryland sheep breeders association, also there was a 4H calendar Susan sent out to everyone. There will be an informative webinar given by Dr. Travis Hoffman on lamb meat quality also registration for Maryland 4H congress was discussed along with Calvert co horse fun day and finally there is going to be a farmers market on May 13 th at tractor supply. The meeting adjourned at 8:34. Next meeting will be on May 19, 2017 at 6:30pm at the St. Mary s County Fairgrounds.
5 May 19, 2017 The May meeting of the Tudor Hall 4-H Club was called to order at 7:04pm on May 19, Before the meeting, we made beaded jewelry, painted wooden picture frames and painted on canvas. The Treasurer s report was read by Sarah Beale and accepted as read. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by Ethan Beale. The 4-H Pledge was said by Savanah Bell-Bussler. The Roll Call question was: Are you excited for summer? Under Old Business we discussed the Maryland Sheep Breeders Association Scholarships, Junior Sheep and Goat Skill-A-Thon, Calvert County Horse Fun Day, SOMD Meats Youth Program, Farmers Market at Tractor Supply last weekend, Wildfire Relief Auction- our club sponsored a basket, and lastly, we planted flowers at Tolerance Hall at the Fairgrounds on April 21 st. Under New business we discussed the volunteer hours, Maryland 4-H Congress registration is now open and there are also scholarships available, Weigh-In is on May 20 th, Animal registrations are due by June 4 th, Sotterly is also asking for 4-Hers to keep their goats there, and finally the S.M.I.L.E Show is the 3 rd weekend in June and the registrations are due by May 25 th. The meeting adjourned at 8:34. Next meeting will be on June 30 th, 2017 at 6:30pm at the St. Mary s County Fairgrounds.

7 July 7, 2017 The July meeting of the Tudor Hall 4-H Club was called to order at 7:14pm on July 7, We started the meeting by painting rocks for the Kindness Rocks Project. Each member will take their rocks home and plant them around the community, for someone to find and brighten their day!! We also made cards for the St. Mary s Nursing Home Residents, to put a smile on their face! The Treasurer s report was read and accepted as read. The roll call question was, are you enjoying the summer? There were no demonstrations. Under Old Business we discussed the Spring Livestock Show and dog show June 3 rd and 4 th and quality assurance program closes July 31 st. Also we discussed farm safety day July 14 th and the poultry work shop May 27 th. We are excited about our new youth development educator, Christine Allred. Under New business we discussed the eclipse viewing on August 21 st, 4-H fundraiser baseball August 19 th starts at 6:35pm. The outdoor discovery camp being held by Calvert County 4-H from 9am-4pm August 7 th -11 th, quarter auction July 23 rd at 1pm, we also voted on whether to do a float or a banner for the fair and it was decided to do a float. The meeting adjourned at 8:08. Next meeting will be on August 25th, 2017 at 6:30pm at the St. Mary s County Fairgrounds.
8 August 25, 2017 The August meeting of the Tudor Hall 4-H Club was called to order at 7:14pm on August 25, Treasurer s report was read and accepted as read. Minutes were accepted as read. Roll Call question was: Are you Enjoying Your Summer? Under Old Business we discussed the Spring Livestock Show, the dog show on July 3 rd and 4th, quality assurance was closed on July 31 st and Farm Safety Day was on July 14 th. We also congratulated or new 4-H Youth Development Educator, Christine Allred. Under New business we discussed the eclipse viewing on August 21 st and the 4-H fundraising Blue Crab Baseball game on August 19 th. The 4-H outdoor discovery camp put on by Calvert County 4-H is on August 7-11 th. The meeting adjourned at 8:08. Next meeting will be on October 20, 2017 at 6:30pm at the St. Mary s County Fairgrounds.
9 October 20, 2017 The October meeting of the Tudor Hall 4-H Club was called to order at 7:14pm on October 20, Treasurer s report was read and accepted as read. Minutes were accepted as read. Roll Call question was what will your Halloween costume be this year? Demonstrations/illustrated talks for this meeting were: Hannah Wathen- woodworking and photography, Emily Gale-potholders, Thomas Gale-crafts, and Matthew Frain - composting. Under Old Business we discussed the Archery practices and two members Hannah Wathen and Trent Vallandingham earned their beginner archery awards. Farm to School day was on Tuesday, September 26 th at Ridge Elementary School. And the 4-H Youth Science Day was on October 4th at the 4=H office. Under New business we discussed the beef roast at Mckay s, Southern States Horse Nutrition Talk, and the holiday workshop is scheduled for December 8 th. The meeting adjourned at 8:02. Next meeting will be on November 17th, 2017 at 6:30pm at the St. Mary s County Fairgrounds.
10 November 17, 2017 The November meeting of the Tudor Hall 4-H Club was on the 17 th at the Russell s Farm. The 4-Hers painted pumpkins for the activity. Members also brought donations for the Leonardtown Christmas Tree Lighting Auction basket. Hannah Wathen demonstrated archery standards; Austin and Jessica Graves demonstrated photography techniques; Pheobe-Tate Anderson demonstrated a visual arts project; and Matthew Van Ryswick demonstrated bee keeping, Lego creations and gardening. Under Old Business, the members and families discussed the McKay s Beef Roast, the Swine Project Wrap Up Meeting, the Beef Seminar, the Animal Science e- Forums. Under New Business, the members and families discussed the upcoming horse nutrition meeting, the Holiday Workshop scheduled for 12/8. The Goddard s have a steer for sale. Please contact him directly if interested. There will be a Quarter Auction on Sunday, December 17 th. Volunteers are needed. Also, the Livestock Skill A Thon Practices are starting back up through March. The MD Volunteer Association is accepting Board nominees. There is a Why Science Matters to Me photo contest for ages Lastly, Joann fabrics is offering a 15% discount to 4-H members, parents, volunteers, and leaders who enroll in their rewards points. Next meeting is our Annual Club Christmas Party and meeting on December 15, 2017 at the Fairgrounds at 6:00pm. Please sign up to bring a dish to share. 11 December 15, 2017 The December meeting of the Tudor Hall 4-H Club was on the 15th at the St. Mary s County Fairgrounds. Demonstrations/Illustrated Talks given were: Emily Gale-Swine and Goat castrating, Thomas Gale-swine and goat diseases, and Joe Beale- How to care for your swine. Congratulations to the newly-elected Tudor Hall 2018 Officers!! They are as follows: -President: Sophie Anderson -Vice President: Hannah Wathen -Secretary: Evan Bowles -Treasurer: Derek Van Ryswick -Reporter: Emily Gale -Sargent of Arms: Joe Beale -Historian: Kyle Russell We had a wonderful potluck dinner for the club and families. Thank You to Mr. Bowles for organizing and facilitating smoothly! We exchanged Secret Santa gifts and we had a short business meeting and discussed some ideas for service projects, activities, and field trips for our upcoming year. Everyone signed up for snacks and drinks for them to bring to next year s meetings.
