3 BOARD & COMMITTEE NOTES LETTER FROM YOUR PRESIDENT: Dear Members, I want to thank all of you for the fabulous year. I've thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone. We really belong to an awesome group of individuals. I want to give special thanks to those volunteers who go above and beyond to improve and support the Guild. I now know why the Guild has survived for so long. It's the heart and soul of all the volunteers over the years. We have no meetings, either the Board or the General Membership in December, but we do have the Christmas Luncheon. If I don't see you before Christmas, Have a very Merry Christmas, and a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. Linda Carr, President MEMBER SERVICES: Nina Hardison Member Services had four new members in orientation on Nov 10. That makes 34 this year!!! Please be sure to welcome our new members to the guild! They are eager to share their talents and their knowledge in the committees they select! I want to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas Holiday, God Bless each of you throughout the New Year! FINANCIAL: Dawn Robb GIFTING WHILE YOU ARE ALIVE: Depending on the amount of money you give, you may be able to stretch the tax advantage over several years. This should be discussed with your CPA or tax professional. Gifts can be made of money or appreciated assets - stock would be one of the most common gifts. When it is given to the Guild, the Guild sells it and there are no capital gains to be paid. If the individual sells it and gives it to the Guild, the individual is responsible for the tax. Therefore, it is best to give the asset itself to the Guild. If you need to take a distribution from your IRA, and wish to show less income, you could have your broker make a gift directly to the Art Guild. This is a QCD (Qualified Charitable Donation) that would not be included in your income. It is not deductible on Schedule A, but is deducted on line #15b of your 1040 tax return. Therefore the amount of your QCD reduces your Adjusted Gross Income, dollar for dollar. Again, if a large amount is to be given, check with your tax professional as there may be some IRS regulations which must be met. You will receive a tax deduction for the amount given it is not always a dollar for dollar deduction unless it is a QCD. have on Amazon.com with the added bonus that Amazon willdonate a 0.5% of the purchase to The Art Guild at FFG. It s so easy!! Go to put in your Amazon.com account information (username and password), and then you will be asked which charitable organization you wish to donate to? Type The Art Guild at Fairfield Glade and then Shop! Shop! Shop! OUTREACH COORDINATOR: CHILDREN S OUTREACH: Marilyne Bartos We will be decorating ornaments, stars, and making cards for Christmas in December. Our Homeschool Class will be on Thursday, December 14th from 1:00 PM till 2:00 PM. PROMOTION & PUBLICITY: Jane Harding Facebook is a great way to connect our Art Guild with the public. If you have Facebook, be sure to "like" our page! The Art Guild Facebook page currently has 295 "likes" and 293 followers. The page has a link to our website, a description of the art guild's mission and outreach. The PCAC's address, phone number and hours are listed. Events such as wine and fun Fridays are shared. Classes and activities are shared and some are tagged (with permission) creating more awareness of the Art Guild's events. Pictures and videos are eye catching and create interests in posts.
