1 EUROPEAN PARLIAMT Committee on Employment and Social Affairs EMPL_PV(2012)0125_1 MINUTES Meeting of 25 January 2012, from 9.00 to and from to 18.30, and 26 January 2012, from 9.00 to BRUSSELS The meeting opened at 9.08 on Wednesday 25 January 2012, with Pervenche Berès (outgoing Chair) in the chair (Rules 12 and 196 of the Rules of Procedure). 1. Election of chair Alejandro Cercas, on behalf of the S&D Group, proposed Pevenche Berès as Chair. Pervenche Berès expressed consent and confirmed having completed the declaration of financial interests. Pervenche Berès, being the sole candidate, was elected Chair by acclamation for a second mandate in the framework of the second half of the legislative term and took the chair. She thanked for the confidence shown by the Members of the Committee. 2. Election of 1st vice chair Marian Harkin, on behalf of the ALDE Group, proposed Nadja Hirsh as 1st vice-chair. Nadja Hirsch expressed consent and confirmed having completed the declaration of financial interests. Nadja Hirsch, being the sole candidate, was elected first vice-chair by acclamation. 3. Election of 2nd vice chair Patrick Le Hyaric, on behalf of the GUE/NGL Group, proposed Inês Zuber as 2nd vice-chair. Inês Zuber expressed consent and confirmed having completed the declaration of financial interests. Inês Zuber, being the sole candidate, was elected 2nd vice-chair by acclamation. 4. Election of 3rd vice chair Jean Lambert, on behalf of the Greens/ALE Group, proposed Elisabeth Schroeder as 3rd vice-chair. 2 completed the declaration of financial interests. Elisabeth Schroeder, being the sole candidate, was elected 3rd vice-chair by acclamation for a second mandate. 5. Election of 4th vice chair Csaba Öry, on behalf of the EPP Group, proposed Thomas Mann as 4th vice-chair. Thomas Mann expressed consent and confirmed having completed the declaration of financial interests. Thomas Mann, being the sole candidate, was elected 4th vice-chair by acclamation for a second mandate. 6. Adoption of agenda EMPL_OJ (2012)0125_1v02-00 The agenda was adopted in the form shown in these minutes. 7. Approval of minutes of the meetings of: November 2011 PE v December 2011 PE v02-00 The minutes were approved. 8. Chair's announcements The Chair made the following announcements: The chair informed Members about the Communication to Members 19/2011, included in their dossiers, containing a Report on the Committee Delegation on the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund to Spain on 3 and 4 November 2011 and about the Communication to Members 20/2011, included in their dossiers, containing a Report on the Delegation to incoming Danish Presidency in Copenhagen on 24 and 25 November The Chair welcomed Mr Pieter Rook, new EMPL staff member, seconded national expert coming from the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.
