The group decided on the following tructure with three ection. Until now we have five contribution for the firt ection on Retructuring Social Welfare (from Italy, The Netherland, Finland, Wale and Germany). Then we have four article for the econd ection on Social work practice within changing perpective (from Sweden, Czech Republic, Poland and Cypru). And finally, we have three more paper for the third ection on Social work contribution to the development of civil ociety (from France, Spain and Romania). A econd very relevant apect in all European countrie i migration. Therefore the publication group after an intenive dicuion agreed that a further book hould concentrate on thi iue and ha outlined a draft tructure for the book with the working title: Migration and repone in different European countrie. We invite author from different countrie to contribute. Article hould be written by academic or practitioner with theoretical and/or practical perpective related to the impact of migration in Europe. In addition to thi outcome the publication group will upport the diemination of the book-publication by producing the advertiement material and by writing hort article which could be publihed in cientific journal in diffrent European countrie. Another way to promote the finding of the EUSW network i the active participation in national and international eminar and congree. SOCIALWORK 2007 SOCIAL CHANGE AND SOCIAL PROFESSIONS Section: DIVERSITY AND INTEGRATION Title: SOCIAL WORK AND SOCIAL COHESION Prof. Günter J.Frieenhahn, Univerity of Applied Science Koblenz/Germany, Frieenhahn@fh-koblenz.de
4 Prof. Vincenzo Fortunato, Univerità degli tudi di Calabria/Italy Prof. Ewa Kantowicz, Univerity of Warmia and Mazury in Olztyn/Poland Prof. Gabriele Franger-Huhle, Univerity of Applied Science, Coburg/Germany One of the main tak of ocial work i to avoid excluion and repect human being. Baed on repect and dignity of all people ocial work hould promote the human right and the right to individual elf-determination and participation and integration in ociety. Social worker hould challenge dicrimination, recognie diverity, and work to overcome ocial excluion. Thee tak are more and more confronted with ocial and political development (globaliation and migration, neo-liberal politic and cut of ocial benefit, deintitutionaliation and trengthening of elf-reponibility) which have an enormou impact concerning the relation between ocial policy, ocial welfare tructure, ocial ervice delivery and the role of ocial work profeional. The retructuring of the modern welfare tate i evident and it eem that ocial work i forced jut to follow thee development without having the chance, to bring in it perpective, objective and value. A a conequence of neo-liberal welfare policie and the >ethnicitiation< of ocial relation the concept of dealing and managing diverity i een a able to cope with different development to find olution for a more jut community and ociety. The concept of diverity encompae acceptance and repect. It mean undertanding that each individual i unique, and recognizing our individual difference. Thee can be along the dimenion of race, ethnicity, gender, exual orientation, ocio-economic tatu, age, phyical abilitie, religiou belief, political belief, or other ideologie. For ocial work it i important to look at difference within a given population, to refer to the importance of undertanding and appreciating the cultural difference between group and refer to undertanding how different group exit in a hierarchy of inequality in term of power, privilege, and wealth. In the workhop different paper from different national and diciplinary background will be preented, focued on the diverity approach, ocial excluion and the relation between thee iue. 3. Proce The working proce in thi group i marked by an intenive and upportive participation by the group member. Poitive i that all member come from different cientific background. Thi lead to an approach which i interdiciplinary and international. We agreed on Englih a a working language. Apart from Nick Pike all the other member are not native peaker. For the cientific dicuion on the topic thi i ometime a challenge becaue of the different meaning of the terminology in ocial work in the concerned countrie. Neverthele the quality of the dicuion proce i very high and target oriented.
5 For the final editing of thi publication it i abolutely neceary that a native peaker i involved in thi work. We invited author from different countrie to contribute to the publication. We received for the book on Social work in retructured European welfare ytem more than 25 abtract and we decided to elect not more than one contribution from each country in order to guarantee that a mot a poible countrie are repreented in the book. We have build up a trong and cloe - contact to the author. Each author ha received exact direction how to write the final verion of hi/her article. One apect i in thi context that the tyle and the meaning about academic writing in the European countrie are quite different. One outcome of thi obervation wa that we introduced a workhop on Writing for publication run by Prof. Karen Lyon into the program of the 2 nd annual meeting of the EUSW-network. Up to know the group ha had three 3day meeting 27 th -30 th Jan, Berlin We decided on the working plan (ee below) 14 th -17 th Sept. Koblenz We reviewed the draft article and decided on feedback to author 19 th -21tt Oct, Olztyn Detailed work on technical iue of editing. 5.Concluion The publication group will meet the objective to produce three book a announced in the application. We have to take into account that the date in firt working plan cannot be reached. Producing European publication by writer and editor who do thi work voluntary i a very complex proce. To enure the quality of the publication we will need an enormou amount of time and invetment of energy in order to deliver the publication in the agreed time cale. It i abolutely neceary to develop an trategy which will be the bet way how thee publication will be available and how to dieminate theme o that tudent and academic teacher in the European countrie can ue them. The group will meet again at the EASSW conference in Parma in March 2007 in order to dicu thi.
