How i an application ubmitted? An application may be ubmitted and paid for at the reception dek of the Directorate of Immigration or at the office of a ditrict commiioner outide of the Reykjavík Capital Area. If the applicant i in Iceland he/he mut appear in peron. If an application i ent by mail a payment receipt mut be encloed. The applicant mut appear in peron when applying for renewal of hi/her reidence permit, either at the reception area of the Directorate of Immigration or at office of ditrict commiioner outide of the Reykjavík Capital Area. The applicant will be photographed and mut ubmit a ample of hi/her ignature. The applicant hould bring hi/her paport along. Information about the proceing fee A fee mut be paid for the proceing of the application for a reidence permit. The application will not be proceed without payment. An application that ha not been paid for will be returned to the applicant. If the applicant provide all the required information in the application form and ubmit atifactory accompanying document with the application, the proceing of the application will take le time. 2 Work requiring expert knowledge The applicant may tay in Iceland while applying for the permit and while it i beeing proceed provided that hi/her via i vaild and hi/her tay in the Schengen Area doe not exceed 90 day in the pat 180 day period. The applicant may not begin working before a work permit ha been granted and he/he may not work for other employer than the one on which the work permit i granted. A reidence permit may be granted for up to two (2) year, however, not longer than the period of validity of the work permit. A reidence permit may be renewed for a long a two (2) year at a time, provided the requirement of the permit are till being met, however, not longer than the period of validity of the work permit. A reidence permit of an applicant who ha lot hi/her job may be renewed for a long a three (3) month from the date of unemployment or the time when the employment-termination period ha paed, to enable the applicant to find new employment on ground of hi/her qualification/expertie. A renewed reidence permit mut be applied for at leat four (4) week before the permit period of validity expire. The reidence permit contain a right to family reunification for the applicant poue or cohabitant after at leat one year of cohabitation, applicant children younger than 18 year old and applicant parent who are 67 year of age or older. The reidence permit can be the bai of a permanent reidence permit. Shortage of worker An applicant to whom a via requirement applie may not be in Iceland when applying for the permit and while the application i being proceed. An applicant who i exempt from the via requirement may be in the country when applying for the permit and during it proceing for a long a the non-via requirement applie. The applicant may not begin working before a work permit ha been granted and he/he may not work for other employer than the one on which the work permit i granted. A firt reidence permit may be granted for up to one (1) year, however, not longer than the period of validity of the work permit. A reidence permit may be renewed for up to one (1) year at a time, provided the permit requirement are till met, however, not longer than the validity period of the work permit. A renewed reidence permit mut be applied for at leat four (4) week before the permit period of validity expire. If a renewal of application i not ubmitted before the former permit expire it will reult in a gap in the continuity of the applicant permit and a permit on thee Right attached to the permit ground cannot be reiued until the applicant ha tayed abroad continuouly for two (2) year effective from the end of the permit period of validity. The reidence permit doe not contain a right to family reunification. The reidence permit can be the bai of a permanent reidence permit. If your application i accepted, the Directorate of Immigration may end a requet for a D-via to Danih or Norwegian embaie repreenting Iceland and a lited on the webite of the Directorate of Immigration and the Icelandic embaie in China and Ruia. An applicant wihing to replace hi/her repreentative mut ubmit a form to thi effect to the Directorate of Immigration. If an applicant wihe to withdraw hi/her authorization for repreentation, the applicant mut end a written notification to the Directorate of Immigration tating uch change. Pleae note that the repreentative may not ign the application. I undertand that giving mileading or fale information to public authoritie i punihable according to the Icelandice Penal Code No. 19/1940, and could reult in denial or withdrawal of a reidence permit and poibly expulion on ground of the Act on Foreigner No. 80/2016.
