2 A Message From Our Principal, Jennifer Meisten Thank you to all the parents who came out to join us for Open House. I know how busy life becomes between school, sports and extracurricular activities and I appreciate you taking the time to join us. We are officially halfway through the first grading period and progress reports were sent home on Thursday, September 14th. Our 8th grade students are preparing to take the PSAT on October 19th. Letters were already sent home with 8th grade students who qualified to take the PSAT for free based on previous test scores. On September 21st we will open registration to all 8th grade students and it will be on a first come, first serve basis. Our cookie dough fundraiser is off to a great start. Remember those orders are due back to school on Wednesday, September 21st. In addition to serving as our only fundraiser, students have the opportunity to win great prizes. Beck s Big Event, It s All About The Dodgeball will be held on September 30th from 4:00-6:00pm. The cost to enter the dodgeball game is $3.00 and students can stay after school. PTSA will be selling hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and soda. All items cost $1.00. Please make sure that your child has a ride at 6:00. Hope you can join us for this event. Time: 4:00-7:00 Theme: It's all about the Dodgeball! Carnival themed food. Everything is $1: hot dogs, chips, candy, soda, popcorn and more! Beck enews, Issue 4, September 19, 2016 Page 2

3 We have an exciting school year ahead of us, starting with November elections, which is right around the corner, and the voter registration deadline is even closer (October 8th!) If you are not already registered to vote, you can do so by simply clicking on the Register Now button below and following the instructions. Or you can cut and paste the following link into your browser: Your vote is important!" Please register to vote by October 8th! Beck enews, Issue 4, September 19, 2016 Page 3

4 BOX TOPS CONTEST! Here s the contest info: Prize will be: 1 Dress-Down Day. Box tops are due Sept 30th. Clip box tops and place in zip lock bag or envelope with the student s name and homeroom teacher. - Make sure they are not expired. 25 box tops will earn one entry in the drawing. The more you submit = higher chance to win. Every 1000 total box tops received will earn another prize. So we start with one name drawn, we hit 1000 box tops, a second name is drawn, etc. Any entries that have come since last contest will count towards this contest. *Must be clearly labeled with child s name, not expired, and submitted in the main office collection box by Sept 30th, Any questions, contact Tina Goumas at tinagoumas@gmail.com. Help earn money for Beck and a chance to win a dress down day! Beck enews, Issue 4, September 19, 2016 Page 4
