2 mock Election In my family, the rule of thumb is We don t talk POLITICS. If you feel the same way about your classroom, I don't blame you. I feel like I need to be very careful. Who wants an annoyed parent? Right? You can run a mock election without talking about the real candidates. Get your hands on a copy of the book Duck For President. After reading it to your students, run a mock election in your classroom. For a mock election in your classroom: Read the Voting fluency page Register to vote as a member of the farm Look at the candidates pictures Do a secret ballot vote Count the ballots Graph the outcome of the election. +

In class we might vote on what game to play during P.E. That is a vote. Some votes are very important! Every four years America chooses a President. This leader will help America. Only adults can vote for President. Voting for leaders is called an election. Kids can choose the President. Voting is making a choice. An election is choosing leaders. Voting for leaders is called an ////////// election country

Some votes are big! Every four years, America chooses a President. He will live in the White House. This leader will make decisions to help America. This is a big and important choice. Social Studies: I know about the voting process Kids can choose the President. Adults can choose the President. Voting is making a choice. An election is choosing leaders. Some votes are very important, and have a lasting effect. Every four years, America chooses a President. This leader will make decisions to help America. These decisions will shape America s future. Only adults can vote for leaders. Voting for leaders is called an election. In an election year, many people are trying to become the new leaders. Voters choose new leaders for their city, state, and country. They also vote to pass new laws and taxes Kids can choose the President. True False Adults can choose the President. Voting rules are clear: you can only vote if you live in the voting area and are old enough. To vote in the farm-wide election you need to register to vote. Let s pretend we are farm animals. 1.
