2 Which Patriotic Holiday? This is a sorting game to help children distinguish between 6 of the major patriotic holidays of the U.S.A: Designed by Sally DeCost of Elementary Matters Presidents Day Memorial Day Flag Day Independence Day Constitution Day Veterans Day
3 Directions: run off on cardstock and laminate. Split each of the base cards in half. Split the question cards in quarters. Children should spread out the base cards, then sort out the question cards on one of the 7 base cards. Presidents Day This game has 2 sets of base cards. The first set is for less experienced students who may need the hints. The second set is for more experienced students, and only has pictures and a title. We celebrate all the presidents of our country, particularly George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Presidents Day is the third Monday in February. Place all Presidents Day cards here.
4 Memorial Day Flag Day We remember people who served our country and died. It s come to be a day to honor any loved one who has died. We celebrate the last Monday in May. Place all Memorial Day cards here. We celebrate the adoption of our country s flag on June 14, We celebrate on June 14 th. Place all Flag Day cards here.
5 Independence Day Constitution Day Our country s birthday The anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence We celebrate on July 4 th. Place all Independence Day cards here. We celebrate the signing of our country s constitution on Sept. 17, We celebrate on September 17th. Place all Constitution Day cards here.
6 Veterans Day All U.S.A. Holidays We remember all service people who served our country: Coast Guard, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Army. We celebrate on November 11. Many Americans like to display the flag on national holidays. Many communities have parades or special ceremonies to honor these days. Many people celebrate national holidays with patriotic music.
