4 The Communicant Grand Knight s Letter Dear Brother Knights, spouses and social club members: Our May Council business meeting will be held on Monday May 7, Last month the Trustees (Ollie Thibodeaux, Bill Kurker, Al Hirt) presented an initial slate of officers for our next fraternal year which begins July 1. The Council will vote on officers at the June Council meeting. There is still time to consider additions to the slate of officers. If you are a Third Degree Knight, condsidering serving as an officer or suggesting a worthy brother knight you feel would make a good officer. Contact one of the Trustees or come to the May meeting with your ideas. Our annual clean up day was held on Saturday March 31, Special thanks to the following: John Seib, Charlie Feeney, John Kohlbacher, Chuck Shipley, Rich Schreve and the two Debbies. On April DGK Kevin Henn, FS Charlie Fadale and I attended the 111 th Annual Meeting of the Indiana Knights of Columbus. We heard several presentations, socialized with brother knights from around the state and received some good ideas about other programs and events that other Councils have done. At the Annual Meeting new State Officers were elected for the next fraternal year. Don t forget that our Council is the best place in town to enjoy Mother s Day Brunch on Sunday May 13, Details are in this issue of the Communicant. The Central Indiana Knights of Columbus Euchre tournament is to be held Thursday May 17, 2012 at St. Joseph s Council #5290. We have a First Degree initiation on Monday May 21, Please recruit a Northside Catholic gentlemen to join our Council and come to the ceremony. Save the Date: Our annual golf outing is set for Thursday June 21, 2012 at Saddlebrook Golf Club. We are looking for golfers, hole sponsors and door prizes. Sincerely, Kevin Hahn, GK Greetings Knights and Social Club Members: PRESIDENT S LETTER It is an exciting time at the club as we have been addressing several much needed repairs and renovations. The club and council officers have worked together to propose a plan to replace the existing chairs at the facility as well as renovate the lounge. The council vote on this and other financing issues will be at our regular Monthly Meeting on Monday May 7th, at 7:00. Details of the vote are included in this issue of the communicant. Other items and activities of note in the month of May include: Mother s Day Brunch: Our annual Mother s Day Brunch will be held on Sunday May 13 th from 10:00 to 1:00 The cost is $12.95 for Adults, $11.95 for Mothers and $8.95 for Children (age: 3-12). Reservations are available by contacting our executive staff at (317) Pool Membership: Opening Day- May 26 th, the Northside K of C has provided a safe and controlled environment where its members and their families can laze away the summer Poolside. To make sure that you are ready for another summer of fun in the sun contact club management and either confirm your membership and/or request information. Also the Gator Swim team is looking for members, but space and class size is limited so call soon to reserve your spot. A Parent Meeting will be held at the club in the coming weeks. Race Day Weekend Pool Party: For everyone looking to stay away from the track or just cool down after a long day in the Sun the Northside K of C will be hosting a Race Weekend Pool Party on Monday may 28 th from 3pm-7pm. It is important to keep in mind that the viability of our pool entity depends on membership, so make sure to spread the news of this well-kept secret of the Northside and help others to be included in this fun summer experience. Other weekly events that will be hosted this month include the Friday Night Buffet on the third Friday of the month, Thursday Night Zumba, the Monday and Wednesday Charity Poker Games, the Weekly Wednesday Drawing, and Thursday Night. Opening Day is right around the corner Saturday May 26th Summer Kick Off Member Pool Party Monday May 28th 3pm-7pm Cookout and Poolside Bar Available Kids Activities will begin at 3pm **We will be mailing out pool membership cards and tags the first week of May. Swim Lesson and Swim Team Registration will also be included with this mailing. If you have not yet renewed your membership we still have openings. At our last Council meeting on Monday, April 2, 2012 the following motion was presented and voted on by the members. In accordance with our By-Laws the following motion also needs to be published and voted on a second time at the next Council meeting which will be on Monday, May 7, The following motion and a copy of this letter will also be posted at the K of C Bar. Motion: That Council #3433 and the Northside K of C Club spend a maximum of $20, for new chairs. The funds will originate as follows: $ from the Charity Gaming (Council Fund) $ from the Council Capital Campaign $ from the Realty Board s Investment Fund If the bill comes to less than $20,000.00, the Charity Gaming will contribute 40%, the Council 20% and the Realty Board 40%.
