1 White County Board of Education Cleveland, Georgia Minutes of the regular meeting of March 25, The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM by Chairman Kendyl Brock Hunter in the Media Center of White County High School. Barbara Pletsch - sponsor Wrestling team members Participated in AAA State Wrestling Competition Alexander Jenkins Bradley McDougald Seth Lee Caleb Morris WCSS s first AAA State Wrestling Champion Tyler Hamilton winning 4 th place in the AAA State Wrestling Competition

2 Weightlifting team finished 1 st in AAA school division and qualified for state: Seth Lee Dylan Wagoner for winning 4 th place in the AAA State Weightlifting Championship Matt Cowart for his 6 th place finish at the AAA State Weightlifting Championship Placed in the Area 2 Weightlifting competition Flair Lee Matt Sisk Tim Bragg for WCHS Weightlifting Team finishing first in the AAA Division and advancing to the state championship ITEM I: ITEM II: Motion by Charlie Thomas second by LaMerle Edwards to approve the agenda as amended. Motion carried. All voted yes. Motion by LaMerle Edwards second by Jay Westmoreland to approve the minutes of and Motion carried. All voted yes. Superintendent s Report District Map Garrison Baker after further investigation, it has been determined that the district map the Board approved in 2008 was the district map approved by the legislature Set meeting date with Architects April 1 st at 8:00 AM in the Central Office was set for the Board to meet with the Architects. Maintenance take over Lawn Maintenance the school system plans to hire employees for the lawn maintenance of the school system and no longer contract this service. WCMS Update the architects have provided information and design layout of the new middle school. School Calendar Mrs. Seabolt is working on a different school calendar for the Board to consider. GSAB Summer Conference June 11&12, 2010 in Savannah. GSBA Delegates/Alternates & Legislative Position during the business portion of the meeting a delegate and alternate will be appointed. IDEA - information provided to the Board Important Date - April 5-9, Spring Break April 19 23, 2010 School Board Appreciation Week April 22, 2010 Regular BOE Meeting May 6, 2010 at 6:30 PM at Lumpkin County High School Vision for Public Education in Georgia SACS Report - a two year progress report has been completed by Nancy Moore and Debra Seabolt and a copy provided to the Board Yearly Calendar all items have been addressed for March Action Items ITEM III: Motion by Jay Westmoreland second by LaMerle Edwards to approve the Superintendent s recommendation to approve the agreement with White County Commissioners for Use of Facilities. Motion carried. All voted yes. ITEM IV: ITEM V: ITEM VI: Motion by Charlie Thomas second by Jay Westmoreland to appoint Kendyl Brock Hunter as the Delegate to the Summer Conference and LaMerle Edwards as the Alternate. Motion carried. All voted yes. Motion by Jay Westmoreland second by LaMerle Edwards to approve the Superintendent s recommendation to approve the Fund Raisers for MCES, MYES, WCMS, and WCHS. Motion carried. All voted yes. Motion by Jay Westmoreland second by Charlie Thomas to approve the Superintendent s recommendation to declare equipment from WCHS Media and CTAE as used/worn out and authorize disposition. Motion carried. All voted yes.

3 Financial Report Tom McLean provided the following financial report and presented the Board with information for the CD bids: General Fund SPLOST Bond Sinking Fund Loan Activity Financial Impact Utilities Hospitality Expendable Trust Nonexpendable Trust School Nutrition Principal s Account Federal Programs Local Capital Outlay 2001 Bond Construction Bond History 2003 SPLOST 2003 Bond Sinking Fund Dr. Shaw stated that teacher/administrator contracts will be issued after the General Assembly completes their session in order to know how the budget for SY 11 will be set. Principals will recommend their staff for SY 11 during executive session tonight; however, approval will be at a later date. ITEM VII: Motion by LaMerle Edwards second by Cliff Hood to go into executive session to discuss personnel. Motion carried. All voted yes. The Board went into executive session at 7:10 PM The Board came out of executive session at 8:50 PM.
