CALL TO ORDER MINUTES OF THE STUDENT SENATE SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY EDWARDSVILLE Morris University Center- Goshen Lounge Monday, 6 p.m. The Student Senate of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville convened Monday,, in the Goshen Lounge of the Morris University Center. Vice President Megan Gooch called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Senator Gaddis moved to approve the minutes from August 28, Senator Schlueter seconded. The motion passed by general consent. IV. Guest Speakers: Lisa Thompson-Gibson, MA, LPC, Counselor and Suicide Prevention Project Coordinator. Lisa Thompson-Gibson addressed the senate in regards to ICARE campaign and other events in support of mental health awareness. She relayed the positive feedback received from Fresh Check day. Out of The Darkness Walk will be on Saturday September 30, 2017 at the SIUE Gardens and SG volunteers are greatly welcomed. Check in is at 10:00 AM, the walk begins at 11 AM, and the event should commence at 1pm. She relayed that Cognito Training is still available; the Freshman Screening day will be October 10, V. This year s Angel Tree will have around 400 angels. Financial Officer Gavin: REPORT IN PACKET. Adds: Finance Board had its first meeting she was very impressed. Student Trustee Jansen: REPORT IN PACKET. Adds: Next Board of Trustee s meeting will be held on the College of Dental Medicine s campus in Alton. Vice President Gooch: REPORT IN PACKET. Adds: Black Girls Rock event can count as one of the three mandatory events for the year. In addition, Senators need to plan to meet with constituents.

Kappa Delta Pi Kappa Delta Pi Biennial Convocation October 25-26, 2017; $ Senator Lamsal moved to approve Kappa Delta Pi s travel request. Senator Zajac seconded. The motion passed by acclimation. 2. APhA-ASP SIUE Chapter APhA-ASP Midyear Regional Meeting 2017 October 13-15, 2017; $ Senator Zajac moved to approve APhA- ASP SIUE Chapter travel request. Senator Schlueter seconded. The motion passed by acclimation. 3. Fellowship of English Education Students & Teachers Illinois Association of Teachers of English Fall Conference October 20-21, 2017; $ Senator Washington moved to approve the Fellowship of English Education Student & Teachers travel request. Senator Gilmore seconded. The motion passed by acclimation. 4. Society of Women Engineers WE17 October 26-29, 2017; $600.00

ANNOUNCEMENTS SOLO (Student Organization Leadership Orientation) will be on Saturday September 23, The PHC is interested in bringing a new Sorority to campus and will be bringing the three finalists to campus, starting today with Alpha Chi Omega. Tomorrow will be Kappa Kappa Gamma. The third will present on September 23, 2017 and will be Phi Mu. Each presentation will be at 6 PM. Meet the Greeks will be on Thursday in the Ballroom. RSVP for Hash Brown Huddle. Stacie will be collecting RSVPs for Dinner at the Chancellor s house on Thursday. Dress is casual. XIV. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned by general consent at 6:52 PM.
