Members of the audience will later have the opportunity to address the Teen Committee regarding ALL OTHER ITEMS ON THE AGENDA at the time the Teen Committee considers those items. At this time the Teen Committee will take public comment for 30 minutes. Public Comment will resume later in the meeting if there are speakers who did not get an opportunity to speak because of the 30- minute time restriction. The Brown Act prohibits the Teen Committee from taking action on oral requests relating to items that are not on the agenda. The Teen Committee may engage in a brief discussion, refer the matter to staff, and/or schedule requests for consideration at a subsequent meeting. The Committee requests, but does not require, speakers to identify themselves. When you come up to speak, please state your name unless you wish to remain anonymous. Each speaker will be allowed four (4) continuous minutes.

The Teen Committee may act on these items by one motion following public comment. Only Committee Members may pull an item from the consent calendar for discussion. Now is the time for those in the audience to provide public comment on the consent calendar. Each speaker will be allowed four (4) continuous minutes to comment on items on the consent calendar. Routine Administrative Items 1. APPROVAL OF THE TEEN COMMITTEE MINUTES FROM THE MARCH 21, 2018 AND MAY 16, 2018 MEETINGS Recommendation: Staff recommends the Teen Committee approve the March 21, 2018 and May 16, 2018 Teen Committee meeting minutes. 2. YAC AND TAC ACTIVITY CALENDARS Recommendation: Staff recommends the Teen Committee receive the YAC and TAC activity calendars. ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS 3. CO-CHAIRS REPORT END OF CONSENT CALENDAR Recommendation: Staff recommends the Teen Committee receive a report from the Co-Chairs. 4. COMMUNITY AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION REPORT (ORAL REPORT) Recommendation: Staff recommends the Teen Committee receive an oral report from the Community and Human Services Commission liaison. 5. TASK GROUP LEADERSHIP Recommendation: Staff recommends the Teen Committee vote on the proposed task group leadership assignments: Women s Empowerment (Anindita Singh), Teen Green (Kiara Mariscal), and Mental Health Awareness (Sydney Hwang and Emily Rodriguez). 6. TASK GROUP ASSIGNMENTS Recommendation: Staff recommends the Teen Committee collect members preferences for task group assignments (Teen Green, Mental Health Awareness, and Women s Empowerment.) 7. ATTENDANCE POLICY Recommendation: Remind members about the importance of meeting attendance, and the Committee s policy regarding attendance and committee membership.

PUBLIC COMMENT **** Amy Crow announced that the Claremont Library will be closing for renovation on April 16, 2018, with tentative plans to reopen in the fall. YAC AND TAC ACTIVITY CALENDARS The Committee received the YAC and TAC activity calendars. ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS 3. CO-CHAIRS REPORT None. 4. AD HOC COMMITTEE RECAP **END OF CONSENT CALENDAR** A. Teen Green reported that dates have been set to conduct outreach to CLASP (Claremont After-School Programs); volunteers need to be scheduled for each visit. B. Mental Health Awareness shared that they would like to have Tahil Sharma speak at a Mental Health Awareness event in May, or a separate event. C. Women s Empowerment is scouting locations for their art show. 5. COMMUNITY AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION REPORT Commissioner Angela Bekzadian-Avila shared that the CBO funding allocations had been made to support local non-profit organizations. 6. MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS Lisa Banks-Toma and Diana Zuniga (Claremont Unified School District) and Jamie Ritchey (Tri-City Mental Health Services) solicited ideas to support mental health awareness at Claremont High School the week of May 21, Ideas suggested by members include yoga and other stress-reduction activities, sharing positive messages via bracelets, and interactive activities to encourage mindfulness, self-care, and support of peers. 7. NOT IN OUR TOWN SCREENING The Not in Our Town event will take place Thursday, March 29 at 3:45 p.m. at Taylor Hall. Free tacos will be served. Program Coordinator Jennifer Helé shared how important Committee support of this event would be, in terms of attendance and also helping to facilitate productive conversation at the event TEEN COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP The Committee will be distributing membership applications throughout the month of April to recruit new members for the Teen Committee. Members were asked to start thinking of good candidates for membership and leadership positions.

EL ROBLE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL Open House is next Thursday, March 29, 2018, and tickets are on sale for the April dance. B. CLAREMONT HIGH SCHOOL Upcoming events and news include a Comedy Sportz performance on Friday, March 23 at 12:00 p.m., a CHS night rally on Friday, March 23 at 6:00 p.m., Open House on Thursday, March 22 at 6:30 p.m., and ASB class elections this week. In addition, Theater is having a bake sale on Friday, March 23 after school, and there is a track meet on Saturday, March 24. Committee Members Emily Rodriguez and Kiara Mariscal have started a supply drive to benefit CLASP students; there is a donation box in every classroom at CHS. C. YAC AND TAC The Happiness Sprinkling events are taking place at both the TAC and the YAC on Friday, March 23 at 3:00 p.m. D. COMMUNITY AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION REPORT Commissioner Bekzadian-Avila thanked the Committee for their involvement this year and wished members well in their future endeavors. 6. MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS The Mental Health Awareness Ad Hoc summarized plans for participation in the upcoming Mental Health Awareness Week on campus, including wearing green items to boost awareness of the importance of mental health, interactive posters to promote positive thinking and support of others, and the mental health film festival TEEN COMMITTEE APPLICATIONS The Committee discussed whether or not late applications should be acceptable, and determined that it would be beneficial to extend the application deadline to Friday, June TEEN COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP The Committee accepted nominations for Teen Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs. 9. SPEECHES AND VOTING FOR CHAIRS Teen Committee received and filed speeches for the Chairs, and voted on the candidates. The proposed leadership team for consists of: Emily Rodriguez, Chair;
